Well we had another green morning for Henry today. He didn't stay in the pinks/reds for only about 8 hours before the drop. The libre woke me up several times (glad for that thing) to some potential hypo. He ate some 15% right after AMPS hoping not to get too low which helped a little but the libre alarm went off again at AMPS +4 when he hit 53. I know from past experience when the libre reads that number he's likely in the upper 30s lower 40s and he wasn't interested in eating anymore so he got 1ml of Karo. That boosted him for a couple hours getting up to 102 briefly before slowly coming back down to where he is now at +8 63 on the libre, in actuality probably in the mid to lower 50s on the nova meter. I'm at the vet right now and just sent him in for a libre change. I didn't think he was going to get this slow again, and should have brought some food/Karo with me since with traffic I'm an hours drive away from the vet. Hopefully it doesn't get much lower. Maybe going into the vet will boost it a bit, but probably not since he's a calm laid back cat in pretty much every situation.

The vet seemed to think his ketone problems were related to the EPI problem and now that it's being treated we'll see them mostly go away.

With the ketone problem hopefully under control the R may not be necessary anymore and honestly the last few times he's gotten it, its done little to even bring his BG down anyway. Its crazy just a couple days ago we were talking about doing a Lantus increase but with all these recent hypos and the one from 6/28 I'm now thinking a reduction might be in order. Any thoughts?

I really like how quickly he got over that last bounce. You are right about the R, you can probably tuck it into the back of the fridge for the moment. I'd still do some ketones spot checks when he's high for the next little while. That DKA is a little too recent to back off completely.

Too bad you didn't test with the Novamax at that time. We've also seen Libres, especially when getting due for replacement, read a lot lower than the cat actually was on a hand held meter. If he really was below 50 on the Novamax, that would definitely mean a dose reduction.

So I just walked in the door from the vet and the new libre was reading 55 and I got a 37 on the nova. I just gave him some 15% food. When the vet cheked his BG it was 60 on her meter, so he's came down pretty quickly in the last hour and a half. So should we do a reduction tonight? I'm guessing he'll probably bounce from the 37 and the other lows he hit this morning but with any luck maybe the reds/pinks will be short lived like yesterday. Hopefully the ketones won't be a problem anymore. I will check them twice a day when he's running high tho.
