? 07/05 Henry PMPS 77. What to shoot?

Hi everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted here.

Henry is at 77 @PMPS. I lowered his dose this morning and shot 1 unit (his usual dose is 1.25 units) so I'm surprised he's this low at PMPS.

Should I go ahead and shoot 1 unit? I'm stalling for the time being.

Thanks!

Yes I am, although I've been lacking with the testing lately, I need to kick it up a notch.

Thank you. I stalled for 20 minutes, tested again and he went up to 88 so I went ahead with 1 unit.
Good point about the depot, I forgot about that!

Thanks again.

If you're doing TR, he did earn the reduction down to 1.0 because he stayed in normal numbers for over 7 days.

I'd go with the 1U again tonight...he's doing AWESOME!!

If he were to drop below 50 (three times) or below 40 once, he'd go down to .75 or if he stays in normal numbers for another 7 days (on 1U)

That's how this whole thing works....we want them to earn their reductions and hope they keep earning them all the way down to zero!

Awesome, that’s what I would have done!

And I agree with Chris! He’s looking great, nicely regulated! Keep it up (or should I say ‘down’?), Henry!

Thank you both so much for your help. I'm going to reread the TR protocol, it's been awhile and I've forgotten when it's appropriate to take reductions. Henry has so many other health issues... that as long as the diabetes is mostly is normal range I was happy. Perhaps a bit of caregivers fatigue managing multiple conditions with him. He's never really been consistently low though, I figured I lost my chance at a possible remission.

I can definitely get more tests in the evening, but I can't during the AM cycle Mon-Fri because I'm at work. Weekends however I can test during the AM cycle. Will fix my tabs and add TR to my signature.

We'll see how he does on the 1u. I'll post in a few days with an update.

Good luck with the new dose :cat:

Long term diabetic it's 3 drops below 50 or 1 drop below 40....or 7 days of normal numbers. All those mean it's time for a reduction.
A clarification. For a long term diabetic it's 1 drop below 40 or 1 week in normal numbers. If your cat doesn't hold reductions well (new or long term diabetic), you can choose to go to 3 times between 40 and 49 on separate days. More details here: Reminder: *earning* reductions and starting OTJ trials
