HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!

In the US, the 4th of July holiday starts on Friday and ends on Monday. Members may not be online as much as usual due to the holiday. Responses to your questions may be a bit slower coming until after the first of the year. Remember to check the Stickys at the top of each board for answers to many questions.

If you post a question, please use the question mark prefix and make a note in your subject line. Remove the icon and note after you've received a response.

If your question remains unanswered and you need immediate help please cross-post on Feline Health - (The Main Forum).

Safety always comes first. If you're unsure, always err on the side of caution

Here are several clickable links that may be helpful if you have questions:

There may be less traffic on the entire board throughout the holidays so try to help out whenever you can. Someone may be in need of YOUR help or support.

this is also a good time to go through your Go Bag and everything that goes with it.
>meters have a memory that emergency vets will find useful.
>strips and a fresh battery for the meter.
>even a travel mug can be used to carry insulin, don't let ice come in direct contact. Never assume any clinic will have every type of insulin.
>make sure the emergency clinic hasn't moved in the years since you were last there.
>we keep a map and directions to emergency if someone who doesn't drive has to call a taxi.
>if you're going to be stuck in emergency for 12 hours do you have a friend who can at least feed your other pets?
>if your cat may be staying overnight and is a picky eater grab a few cans on the way out the door. They will be stressed and need to eat, it sounds easier than it is.
>your phone and the charger if it needs more than a simple USB connection.
>I've never tried it but in a panic like a fire you can safely put a cat in a pillow case.
>if it's an emergency and you're not getting help in one of the smaller forums post again in Feline Health.
Make it clear you have two threads running and link the two together.

Stay safe everyone, happy 4th of July

There's no harm in asking a silly question. Would it be a good idea that when a 911 post went up a 911 symbol, with or without the name of the forum where it was posted, appeared somewhere on the main page. I often leave the computer on that screen for hours when I'm puttering around the house without ever looking down in Caninsulin for example. It could be frustrating for a new member waiting for an answer not knowing they were on one of the smaller forums. Since a few 911's don't come down in time there could be a time limit for how long the alert lasts.
Just another thought that dribbled out of my head. Look ma, I'm helping!!!

I like that idea. I don't usually look at the other sections that often. Having a way to bring the post to everyone's attention no matter what area the member is on would help us respond quickly.

You get a gold star for helping. :D

@Noah & me (GA) -- that's a Robert question. I don't know if what you're asking is possible. What may make better sense is if someone is posting in one of the insulin support groups and needed help, they also posted on Health.

@Noah & me (GA) The other thing to consider is that I've seen a lot of people put up the 911, that's not really a 911. Feline Health does get quite a bit of traffic and is a good place to post.

Another option is to add a sticky at the top of each forum to tell users to post 911 issues on Health. I would rather see posts marked incorrectly as 911 than miss a true emergency.
