7/2 Benny AMPS 92 PMPS 92 +1 110 +2 69

The 1.5U depot will take 4 cycles to be out of the picture. Till then you might have to use higher carbs to keep him over 50.
His SS is looking so good. He really turned around at 2u! :D

My fingers are crossed!

His +1 is 79. Is this a drop that indicates he might be having an active cycle?

Yes! Looks like he is one of those early onset kitties. Lantus usually onsets around +2 but there are some where onset is earlier at +1 or +1.5.

It seems so. His +2 is 57. Gave him a small snack to try to arrest his drop. When I asked before about an absolute value at which it is safe to leave him alone for a bit, you said that it is not the absolute value of the bgs but the pattern. Could you say a little bit more about that? I want to be here for him when he needs to, but as you know sometimes I have to leave.

Good you are getting those +1 tests. :D

Seriously! :D I did not know he could have such a fast onset until I was told to do that. :)

Below 50 is too low and you want to ensure he stays over 50. By extension that means that if he is dropping fast and hard, there is a chance that he might drop too low. Like yesterday morning where he dropped from 120 to 80 in an hour. There are cats that surf the 50s and the 60s safely. So the 50s and 60s per se are not unsafe or too low. But if he hits the 50s like he has this morning and is still dropping, you want to be around till he flattens out and you are sure he is not going to drop too low in the time that you are gone. Do I make sense?

So, it is best for him to stay maybe in the 60s, and flat, before I leave? How many hours of consistent BGs would you consider flat?

His +3 is 73, thanks to a little snack.

@tiffmaxee or @Bandit's Mom , his +5 is 59. Would you call this flat? I am going to have to leave again for about 90 minutes and I don't want to leave when he is likely to get in trouble. I'll feed an mc snack right now.

Sorry, I only just saw your previous post as well. Have you fed any MC earlier in the cycle?
The 59 @+4 is a bit of a drop from the 73 @+3. if you have to leave, MC will keep him safe. It's later in the cycle and you're gone only for 90 mins or so.

ETA: Sorry, the 59 is at +5 after 63 at +4? Then he is flat and it is later in the cycle. He will be okay. You can still feed a little MC mixed with LC to be extra safe.

Yes, I fed him some MC after each of the drops, just a tablespoon at a time. I feel like he drops so fast and I'm scared he's going to dive under 50 again. Still learning how to manage these low numbers...a good problem to have! :D

Okay, good. I'm learning how to interpret his numbers from you, thanks! :)

If you feed higher carbs, there is a chance that his numbers might come down after the carbs wear off - which is 2 hours after the carbs are fed. So that is something you want to keep in mind.

That's good to know. I didn't realize that. Kind of like a mini-bounce?

I am interpreting his +1 as a food bump, and his +2 to mean that he's off to an active cycle again. Experienced folks, is this accurate?

Not a bounce. The carbs in the food, give his numbers a temporary boost. Once the carbs are out of the system, the numbers will drop again.

Responding late. And yes, an active cycle. Has he been getting MC tonight?
