Panzer sticks his tounge out quite often but it's getting to be quite alot today....what's wrong with my baby. He hasn’t had Cerenia since 6-27 @PMPS feeding. The vet ran out & we ran out! They called &said it was in this morning, but I had a long day at work & didn't make it up there. Could this be a side effect of the Mirataz? He had it almost daily since +2 AMPS on 06-17. Okay… what is he doing? Sticking out his tongue? I’m going to ask some weird questions. How far is he sticking out his tongue? How much is sticking out? He is closing his mouth, right? He is not open mouth breathing, is he?
 
Do you feel like he’s dehydrated? Why? Is he eating okay? Did you mix water in his food? Tell us more? I will be back. But I need to go feed my cats. It’s way late to feed them. And I have a bunch to pill this week. But I will come back to see what you say.

I would say about a 1/4 the way out. I've noticed him do it at least 3 or 4xs times since PMPS. He does it when I'm about to test then starts bathing himself. I came in to the bedroom where he is sleeping & he had it out sound asleep. Yes he can close his mouth & no panting or open mouth breathing. He's acting normal other than that. He has eaten all of his meals, been peeing & pooping. His #s are high but that's nothing new. He had one good cycle & I backed off of his dose on a 128 AMPS because I couldn't monitor so I think that screwed him up.

Yes I've been doing 3 tablespoons of water instead of 2 tablespoons like normal. His skin & coat seem to be fine. Ok I will watch for you, I'm sitting in here watching him sleep. I'm going to test @+6

Yes he's breathing normal. He's actually awake now because I'm eating yogurt & he a people food freak. He was also very interested in me opening a package of kleenex. He used to eat any kind of wrappers (specifically rice Krispy treat wrappers) I know not good that's when I started Panzer proofing years ago.

Cat's... I caught him chewing on an open pckg of paper towels still in the plastic earlier, so I'm going to have to step up the Panzer proofing! I just offered 2 fresh bowls of water & nope not having it...he did pee though.
 
As long as breathing is ok I'm not too worried, but sounds like Suzanne has some ideas.

I catch Mr Kitty with his tongue out a lot ...maybe that's not exactly reassuring with his laundry list of problems :confused: he just seems to sit there like he doesn't know it's out of his mouth

It seems like that's what he's doing. I wish he would drink some water for me.He's sleeping in Spooks chair in the living room now.
 
Panzer ate all of his +8 PMPS meal, Spook had to be coaxed twice now. Here's what Panzer did once Spook was finished eating. He got in the litter box & tried to poop nothing came out. He got in the other litter box & layed down in it. I went into the kitchen to clean there bowls & he came out. He rubbed on my legs then proceeded to run around the house & wanted me to chase him so I did. Now he's sleeping on his perch in my room & I'm laying down to. I will call him to come lay beside me usually this works. He had mirilax in his PMPS +8 feeding like always & I saw him poop twice today a good amount. His stomach did make a gargling noise about 2hrs before +8 PMPS feeding. Any thoughts?
 
Oh gosh, Christina, is he still doing the tongue thing? Sometimes cats do this but I have to wonder. I was thinking constipation until you said he went yesterday twice. What’s really bothering me is the lying down in the litter box and him standing in there - with his history of UTI. I hope he’s better this morning?
 
I know you will be getting the Cerenia today so you will be in contact with the vet.

A lot of cats who are on a wet diet, especially with added water, don’t drink too much water. You could try using the water from a low sodium tuna can which you add extra water to - if you really want to get him to drink - sometimes this works.

He hasn't done the tongue thing again & he's been eating. I just put mirataz on both of there ears. He's actually in my lap purring at the moment. I'm wondering if I should see if I can get him in & do fluids anyways? today since it's going to be a long holiday weekend or get the stuff & try giving them at home with my friends help? I texted him about it last night because he was supposed to feed the boys for me today but I'm canceling my job for today even though I can't really afford to( he never text me back)I have to go to the vet anyways & get the Cerenia that they owe me that finally came in. It looks like Spook needs to be started back on it.

We cross posted Lol I could try that since he's a people food freak eater. He's never had tuna before that I can remember I'm sure he would love the liquid from it. I do have some with water in it.

He hasn't layed in the litter box again, he peed @ AMPS & I tested for ketones & he was negative. He has not pooped yet since the thing he did last night. That's one more reason I need to stay home with him.

Well, you're probably just on edge after everything that has happened. I can't blame you for keeping a close eye on him. I hope he will poop today and eat well!
 
Maybe something is going on with Panzer health wise? Do you think it's just a panc flare? I mean... what the heck is going on with his numbers. They had been so much better and you've increased several times and still they're so much higher than they used to be. :confused: Did the vet look at his teeth?

I wouldn't think it's his teeth because he only has the 2 top canines left. The vet I fired pulled 15 teeth in October of last year. I would love to know why his #s are still so high. Maybe his body doesn't do well with Lantus. I talked to the vet about putting him back on prozinc & he said try the 2units of Lantus first & see how he does. I still have prozinc that is good until 1-2023 in the refrigerator just incase. I'm hesitant on what to do though. He had a really nice cycle I belive it was on Sunday night & a nice AMPS, I couldn't monitor so I backed down to 1.5 units & here we are again back in the high numbers again. They both just ate all of there food, Spook was very hesitant to eat had to have Fortiflora but he kept watching Panzer eat & finally ate.

Yeah. No teeth! I love the way you call him, "the vet I fired!" That cracks me up.
 
The vet could not get Panzer in today but he is no longer doing the tongue thing. I'm assuming me upping to 3 tablespoons of water helped that situation out. He is however constipated.

I did get the Cerenia from the vet & an extra box as well. I only gave it to Spook though because Panzer is eating with no issues (knock on wood)

Should I bump it up to twice a day? Right now he is taking it once a day 1/4 of a teaspoon. I think he went poop while I was gone. The whole time I was gone I was watching the camera on the litter box & he got in & did something couldn't see the actual poop but when I got home I checked with the scooper & there was poop in there.

OK, well this is a little confusing. He pooped while you were gone but now he’s straining in the litter box to go? Was the poop that you found in the litter box small hard round pieces? And are you sure it was not Spook who left the poop?

He was strainging before I left for the vet & I watched the litter box on camera while I was gone & he got in there & I checked when I got home & there was poop in there. Spook didn't get in there at all while I was watching on camera.

Normal size good amount for not getting any out for a couple of trys. He's been fine, happy, nappy,peeing, letting me test Lol he's still scratching me a little I'm trying to sneak in a quick poke he's been laying in a different test position acts like he doesn't want to lay the other way. That's good though from that position he wrapped my hand & arm with all claws out! Not good for me at all now I'm at an angle where I can go for the poke at the right time now, he still might get a poke in me but not my whole hand/ arm.

He says you can test your own blood and he is going to help draw the blood for you.

Panzer hasn't had Cerenia for 4 days now, Spook went without for 5 days & needed it yesterday. Everything crossed Panzer can be taken off of the meds & eat on his own & Spook too but yesterday proved that he's still nauseous. I realize that they both may have underlying conditions but it's just me supporting my self & these boys, so I don't have the money to find out what's wrong & I hate it, but what else can I do:(

I know I think his has something to do with that & maybe he wasn't getting enough water & now he is. I do give them a mix of weruva & FF twice a week & a little dab of coconut oil every other night. Could that cause it or does mirtaz cause constipation? I'm afraid to look at the side effects!
 
Interesting +4 PMPS feeding Panzer had a pinch of psyllium husk 3 table spoons of water & normal FF Spook had the same minus psyllium husk. They both walked away I put fortiflora on both licked a little more walked away put a little more fortiflora walked away put a little more on & they both ate all of there food. I think Panzer maybe tasted the psyllium husk & Spook isn't over being nauseous 4hrs after Cerenia. That's my thoughts who knows though they ate all of it that's what matters in the end.

Coconut oil is supposed to be beneficial for constipation, and constipation is not one of the listed side effects of Mirataz.

Very good to know so that rules those 2 out they aren't the cause of it. Proviable DC is his probiotic & of course he has Zobaline every day. Probiotic with either turkey turkey beech nut broth or beef & beef broth baby food (beef more often because the turkey isn't the same consistently it used to be. I used to crush his Zobaline & he would eat it in his food. Since I changed to Walmart drinking water in the jug I've been pill pocketing it because I would rinse the crusher out with the tap water to get all of the pill. I changed from tap water when Spook was diagnosed with gardia. I use jug water to boil there chicken treats & have the broth. I haven't given them broth in awhile so that's a slight change.
 
Spook ate no food @AMPS feeding. He ate his half of jar of baby food. I tried fortiflora & coaxing but nope he wouldn't eat! Panzer pooped last night & after AMPS feeding.

I’m glad he had a BM! Sorry his appetite isn’t good. Is he losing weight or staying steady? They eat several times a day, right?

I'm glad to. I don't think he is but I will weigh him later today. I put mirataz on both of there ears @+2 AMPS & he was waking me up 30mins before feed time. They both licked there bowls clean,I feed them every 4hrs.
