6/28 Henry WC. AMPS 340 Ket:1.0 +1 221 +3.75 148 +5.75 152 +7 125

2am/pm. Don't have any in that range, beside I think DM pate is like 8% You think FF doesn't have enough carbs? I was actually just getting ready to go to a specialty pet food store and hopefully has the ziki peak and Koha. Should I try to find something in the 5-9 range?
Henry is walking a tightrope and we don’t want anything to push him off balance. I’m really liking the 0.2 ketone readings for 2 cycles in a row. I’m also really liking the return to regular behaviors and routines you are observing.

Let’s consider the 37 that you caught at PM+5 today. If Henry was a garden variety diabetic kitty following TR, a 37 calls for a 0.25u decrease in dose. But Henry is not your garden variety kitty and the last thing he needs right now is less insulin. If he is going to recover he needs plenty of insulin and plenty of calories.

Earlier you said the foods he eats are all under 3%. Feeding a higher carb food may help you to keep him from dipping under 40 while maintaining the 1.75u Lantus dose and also may help get some meat back on his bones.

So pick up some food in the 5-9% carb range yet still LC and let’s see what happens.

Questions?

No, that all makes perfect sense. I'll see what I can find for food. I picked up some novel proteins for him today: Koha, ziwi peak, feline natural, kiwi kitchen. Lamb, rabbit, venison & duck. I'm hoping if he does have IBD, this will help. Unfortunately they're all under 5% carbs. I'll see if i can find any other formulations of novel proteins that is higher carb. He inhaled the venison in record time and begged for more.

I had been studying the TR protocol last night and I thought about the earned reduction too, so I'm glad you mentioned that. That dip just seems so strange after two mostly level blue days. I'll be watching him closely and start weighing him more frequently. Thanks for the reply Sandy.

Glad to see Henry is doing so much better. Let me know which foods he likes I am always up for trying new ones :) The ziwi air dried does have more calories if you want him to put on weight. My Henry loves the jumbo cooked shrimp from publix only lol. But he can lose the calories and shrimp has a lot of them so he gets it only as treat after the vet trip.

Please test R+1. I’m thinking 0.25u R may be a bit too much- you are flirting with getting caught in a self perpetuating loop of Henry dropping too low and fast, ending with another round of pinks, which you instinctively want to shoot down…

Also in the future if you see a weirdly low number immediately retest.

Sorry, just saw this message. I missed the +7 but got the +8 (241) so 111 point drop at +8, about the same as the last few R shots at +6 shoots. I'll take more frequent reading (+9 +10). Don't need a loop. I'll keep an eye for any strange drops. Do you think the AMPS +6 R shot on the 6/26 was responsible for the low I saw last night perpetuating the bouncing cycle? We had two good days, so I would have figured the bounce from 6/26 had been broken, but I don't know enough about the dynamics of bounces to know what the patterns exactly look like.

Does your Henry like pates? It's hard for me to gauge how much he actually likes stuff because these days he'll eat just about anything with gusto. The Ziwi peak stuff seems to get pretty good reviews from others online and the quality seems to be top notch, very high in protein. He likes shrimp, eh? My Henry has never been much of a seafood eater. I thought all cat were supposed to like seafood, but no, it's always chicken, turkey or beef.
