Lord Benny has started low and stayed low so far. His bg may rise, since I only gave him a half-dose. With our weather being over 100 degrees every day, I'm having to leave the house early for a few hours and was afraid he'd go low before I came back. Just now gave him a tsp of LC. I'll be monitoring and giving him food a tsp at a time when necessary.

Hope everybody is staying cool today!

If you have some flexibility in when you can leave, you may want to schedule it after the first 3-4 hours of the shot. Only if possible. The reason I say that is that token shots disrupt the depot. You might just be keeping him on a higher dose than he needs - you won't know that unless you consistently shoot the same dose and see if he earns a reduction.

If you have to go out only for an hour or so, you could still give the full shot and feed HC with the shot and before you have to leave (if necessary) to keep him safe.

So the amount of insulin is more important than the carbohydrate level of the food?

You are defeating the purpose of switching to TR. Shoot low to stay low. A reduced dose will still effect the first half of the cycle most of the time.

Okay. I will have more guts next time. I've gotten better but see I will still have to be stronger about this.

He has been in the greens all day; he did not go up despite the half-dose. I wonder if this was just a function of the depot? Will be interesting to see whether he goes higher tonight for the same reason.

Yes. It’s the depot.sorry nobody got back to you. I had a very busy day and am just now looking at alerts. Good job shooting. You got a tiny food bump so grab a +2. Did you feed at +1?

look at Benny staging flat and green. :D

I did feed at +1, just a little. Did not get a +2, but his +3 was 66, and I'm feeding more now. Will he be okay with mc food and a check mid-night? I also have a timed feeder. He really had a great day!

Good job shooting the green! Has he had any higher carbs so far and what is your MC%? Midnight would be how many hours after the shot?

Thank you. :) No higher carbs all day! I've got MC of varying percentages. Midnight would be 4 hours after the shot. When I said mid-night I did not mean midnight, just at some point during the night. :D
