? 6/20 Benny AMPS HI +2 320 +3 188 PMPS 107/11 +1 174 +2 85 +3 64 advice please?

Benny's +9 is 87. He is going into the 2-hour fast before the shot. I think he may not be feeling great, because he's hiding out in a new place. I can't reach him to do a stick with the regular monitor.

Is he likely to fall even lower than 87 because he won't be getting any food for 2 hours? I'm assuming he should not get any food between now and PMPS.

What will be the protocol for giving him his shot if he does not stay at or above his current BG? I'm not able to monitor tonight beyond +3 or +4.

Thanks in advance for the help!

His PMPS 107 (libre) and 114 (meter). Should I give him the full shot or partial? I can monitor only until +3 or +4 tonight.

Am stalling for a bit.

He’s doing fine. Just feed a little mc. Remember reductions are under 50.

Just feed a teaspoon or two at a time. How much were you feeding? Test in 30.

I bet he’s eaten more than usual by +3. So he’s getting full. When feeding the curve you need to keep him hungry. Think teaspoons rather than tablespoons.

Was the 64 on the meter or the Libre? Libre has been giving wonky readings at lower numbers as well as higher ones!

It's normal to panic at lower/normal numbers when you are not used to them. Once you get used to them, they become addictive. Almost everyone here has experienced that - the panic when new to green, then the addiction when you get used to them and finally the alarm when you don't see green. We call it the 3 stages of Feline Diabetes! ;):p

The 64 was on the Libre, but it has been within a good range of my manual meter today.

I'm getting more comfortable with greens during the day, but they are scaring me tonight! :D Glad to know I am not the only one going through the stages!

OK thanks, I will.

Before I do, I am wondering about lowering his dose back to 1.75. I can't monitor him like I have today and tonight. As the depot gets filled, I'm concerned that he will go even lower.

@Bandit's Mom Sorry, but I wanted to ask you my question above, too.

What you had today are typical nice flat green cycles. Once you get used to how he handles carbs I think you will not need to monitor as much. Do you have an auto feeder? You could set it at night when you want to sleep and during the day when you leave. If that won’t work for you, I think you ought to consider switching back to SLGS for now. Think about it.

Benny has come a long way in the last 3 months. From the long stretches of blues and greens in the last week, it seems like he has got the memo and could very well become tight-regulated. The chances of remission are also much higher in newly diagnosed cats with aggressive (but safe) dosing like TR. Which is not to say that cats cannot get regulated or go into remission with SLGS. Like Elise said, he is starting to see flatter cycles and it is just a matter of understanding his cycles and feeding the curve.

Maybe in future active cycles where he is in green, you may want to get a test or two with a meter and be guided by that. I have seen numbers bob up and down with the Libre in a way that can be confusing and alarming.

What is your MC%? If you could note what you fed and when tonight in the SS comments, that will be useful for future cycles.
