I increased his dose this morning, but now I'm not sure if I should have? I know with TR you're supposed to hold a dose for 6-10 cycles. How do you know which one to hold at? (We held for 8 cycles.) I increased him because it doesn't look like he's bouncing from his low blue five cycles ago. Had he been noticeably bouncing, I would have waited another day to increase.

The biggest fear for me is that yesterday we started feeding Fancy Feast at his last two snack times, because we're wanting lower carbs after nadir. I know that you're only supposed to do one change at a time to see how it works. Did I change his dose too soon?

Since you were seeing low blue on the previous dose you want to wait 10 cycles to increase. You only gave it 8 cycles. Now you know for next time.
Oops. I thought we only held the dose for longer if we went below 100 or were in a bounce clearing cycle.

Does the 10 cycles begin after you see the low blue or greens, or you just give extra days after you see them? Like... if I plan to increase after 6 cycles, but he hits a low on cycle 5, do I then give it another 6-10 cycles? Or would I increase on the original cycle 10? I hope that made sense?

You don’t start the count all over again if you see a lower blue or green. It’s the first time you see blue or green on a dose that you wait at least 10 cycles to increase. Your count starts the might you increased to 2.5 because that’s when you first saw blue. You want to hold as long as you are seeing good nadirs. You always reduce if under 68.

So since we increased today and saw a blue on cycle 1, we hold for 10 cycles and don't increase again until at least Saturday?

With nadirs under 200, you hold doses 6-10 cycles. This is where you have to learn about what works for Taz. I used the rule of thumb, upper blues increase after 6, mid blues after 8, low blues after 10. So it depends on your definition of lower/mid/upper. It was fine to increase today. If you don't see anything lower than 131 by 8 cycles, you can revisit the dose again. If we see green, then you definitely hold the dose for 10 cycles total. And that 10 count is from when you first shot that dose, not when you first saw that green.

Fancy Feast isn't a low phosphorus choice for those later snacks. But if lower carb than the Friskies you were giving if should be good enough for an experiment for a while. It can take a week or two for food experiments to see changes.

I LOVE this! I constantly do research on things, so it really bugs me when I don't easily comprehend something, have definate answers to things, or I don't have a specific guideline to follow. It's easier for me to be told "this is how to do it" than to be told that there's no set way of doing something. My husband refers to it as my annoying profectionist side. Lol.

I'm hoping that since it's such a small amount that he's getting for his snacks, that the benefit of lower carbs will hopefully outweigh the higher phosphorus content. I plan to get a couple cans of Tiki cay and try them soon. I have to go to the next town over to buy it though.

I wonder how low he dropped today. I stopped testing at +3 when he usually nadirs, and now his PMPS is a mid blue. Which from what I can tell, hasn't happened since the end of May. Fingers crossed we can get him down into lower numbers again.
