I'm thinking Taz will need another increase tomorrow? Today makes day 3 on this dose. Or do I need to wait 5 days? We caught a 107 last night (day 2 on dose), which will most likely cause a bounce because he hasn't been seeing numbers that low all week.

I am also thinking about changing his feeding schedule. We've been feeding small meals through out the day because Taz has a history of pancreatitis and the small frequent meals worked better for him than larger less frequent ones. But it's been 3.5 months since his last flare up (knock on wood), and we're thinking that he's getting too much food after he nadirs (he eats twice after - about 1.3oz between the two snacks).

Right now this is what his cycle looks like...

First meal (1/6 of a can)
+1 (1/6 of a can)
+2 (1/6 of a can)
+3 usually Nadirs
+4.5 (1/8 of a can)
+7.5 (1/8 of a can)

We've been giving him the two last snacks because he gets stomach acid if he goes too long without eating. But I'm considering this schedule...

Preshot (1/4 of a can)
+1 (1/4 of a can)
+2 (1/8 of a can)
+3 usually nadirs
+7 (1/8 of a can)

Taking into account that he nadirs early in the cycle, and that he gets acid build up later in a cycle, do you think we should try changing it up or keep it the way it is now?

Any chance you could replace some of those later snacks with something zero carb? So some plain boiled or baked chicken pieces or some zero carb food? That'll keep him on small snacks without the carby influence. I'd prefer you ditch the later snack with carbs than the earlier one. Plus I see some nadirs of around +5 which would make a feed at +4.5 still good and help level him out.

With nadirs under 200, you hold the dose 6-10 cycles. With a low blue, you could hold another day or two if you wanted to. Your SS has no units for the PM cycle last night, I presume you shot? ;)

So keep his schedule pretty much the same, with the exception of doing zero carb at his +7.5? We were feeding fancy feast during his two smaller snacks, because it has lower carbs than the friskies pate. But I was worried about it having a higher phosphorus in it. I like the idea of the chicken, but I believe it has a lot of phosphorus also? We're trying to keep his kidneys healthy for as long as we can, and having dealt with feline kidney disease in the past, phosphorus scares me. If we do go with chicken, we pre-set his meals in his AF for the cycle at one time, so perhaps if we froze the chicken, it would stay fresher as it thawed out by the time he ate it?

Whoops, good catch! I totally forgot to type it in. :)

Hi Sara if you are concerned about phosphorus you can feed
Weruva foods
With weruva foods
You want the metabolizable energy profile percentage of carbs to be less than 10%, and the phosphorus which Weruva lists in Minerals to be less than 250 mg per 100 cals. So you have to look at two different places in the Weruva charts.

When you go to the weruva site and click on one of the pic of the food , click on Detailed Nutrition information that is under guaranteed analysis to the left
YOU WANT CARBS UNDER 10% AND PHOSPHORUS IDEALLY LOW 200's OR LESS

Go to this thread , there are a lot of weruva foods listed here in post #3 , post numbers are to the left
