I see good progress, too. The only thing that concerns me is that she's being propped up with a lot of honey. Are you doing this to keep her from earning a reduction? A few times recently, she looks like she would have earned a reduction without the honey.

She just hit 50. Can I call it an earned reduction for tonight and give her a small carb boost now (honey) to keep her from going lime? I probably would have asked about reducing sooner, but all the yellows made me doubt

I was doing the drops of honey instead of canned food carbs (restricted diet) early to try to stave off her propensity to dive early cycle and flatten her out a bit. The raw diet seems to have little to no effect on bg.

She wasn't feeling so great within 30 mins of her next ondansetron dose, so I just gave it to her (+11.5 vs +12)

Yes. I have heard a lot of people doing the honey/syrup if their cat is on a special diet. I understand.

Ondansetron can be given 3-4 times a day, so giving that to her after 11.5 hours is fine.

As for the reduction, she hasn't earned it yet if following TR, though I expect she might soon if you held onto this dose. You are right, quite a few higher yellows. The goal is lots of time in healing green, not so much to force reductions by not slowing down her drops.

All you can do is try the reduction and see if it will work for her. Wasn't Bhooma suggesting perhaps a reduction a few days ago? I'm going to go back and look @Bandit's Mom[/US

ETA: I looked and I think Bhooma was suggesting perhaps not using honey (not in general, but at a specific point in a specific cycle) and possibly letting her earn a reduction.

Yes, that was 6/11 evening and I've let her go since then. Today is the lowest she's been since & after the 50, I'm sure she'll do another bounce & I'll feel like I've gone backwards.

I guess I'd prefer to let her earn her reductions by staying green for a week & am trying to manage/flatten her curve. Without the use of % carb can food though, I feel like there's little I can do & she's at the whim of whatever her system is throwing around, prone to big drops around +2 & 3, then climbing up the rest of the cycle, lately over 200. It's like she'll do a couple beautiful blue/green cycles, then go, nah, let's try the bungie again :blackeye:

Admittedly, on my end, it's all guessing, throwing darts at a moving target & all advice is welcome :)

I agree about the week in normal numbers being what you want/prefer…. much better for her overall long-term progress. I honestly think you are doing a fantastic job with your pretty girl. You have figured out a lot of her patterns though, and cats will be cats after all! You are most definitely making progress. I was just curious about the honey and figured it must be the special diet. Bron told me a while ago that she did that with her Sheba when she needed to (so you are in very good company :-)

So should I be giving her some carbs/honey in the +1 - +2 timeframe to cool her jets a bit if I see the numbers dropping? I'm trying to give the smallest drop of honey I can squeeze out of the container, but could load some in a syringe & more accurately dose. Maybe @Bron and Sheba (GA) can take a look at the SS and offer some guidance
