Hi,
Trying to learn this posting protocol. Hope I'm getting better! You may think my title is too long! I don't understand the instructions about what to do if the title gets too long, sorry! Also, is it OK to clarify the NS in the title, or should I omit that?

More importantly, I'm not sure if I should give insulin tonight. Last night we gave 0.25 U (no shot in the morning yesterday) and her numbers were great today. So great that we skipped the morning dose! Jolie is now trending upward and is at 187 as of 30 minutes ago. How and when do I decide? I did see a post about nadirs and will try to understand it but not sure I easily can. Very complex.

I'll keep updating the spreadsheet and hopefully there will be a consensus soon. Thank you!

Your doing a great job with the title, if I remember correctly her AMPS was 157 right? That should go in the AMPS cell on your spread and in your title above
On your spreadsheet in the AMPS cell what was the actual BG when you tested first thing in the morning was it 157 if so fix it on your spreadsheet The rest of it looks fine.
So your title should be AMPS-157 /154@+1/124@+1.5 like I see you have it entered on your spreadsheet
At this point it really doesn't matter now

What are your shooting times
Learn how YOUR kitty is responding to insulin:
  • Onset - the length of time before insulin reaches the bloodstream & begins lowering blood glucose
  • Peak/Nadir - the lowest point in the cycle
  • Duration - the length of time insulin continues to lower blood glucose
typical Lantus onset is around +2-+3. Some onset a little earlier.
Nadir doesn't always happen at the same time during the cycle ,usually with lantus it could be @+5 or @+6 the more you test you will get a better idea when Jolie's nadir is

I would give 0.25 tonight with a PMPS of 267
You are seeing a higher PMPS because Jolie isn't used to the lower numbers yet

If we don't hear anything I would go ahead and shoot
With lantus you can be 15 to 30 minutes late when shooting, but try to keep the shot the same time AM and OM
@Jolie/Rochel
Go to your title and add your PMPS# 287, and any tests after that, if it gets too long you can delete the last couple of tests you did during the day cycle

Edit just looked at your SS what's a Fat 0

Rochel for tomorrow you will start a new post on the lantus page like I showed you, then you will link this thread /title to it. Did you see I linked yesterday's post for you above where I put Previous Post, it's in blue
To do this you will look all the way up top ,it will be above that pic of the kitty on the left hand side where it says Feline Diabetes it's in that long line that starts with https://feline diabetes.com/FDMB/threads/6-9-Jolie you will copy and paste it to tomorrow's post

I am also in touch with sugar cats on Facebook and they got back to me first :-) so they suggested this thing called a fat zero which is when the top of the plunger is touching the bottom of the zero line and basically she’s getting the lowest dose possible. This made sense to me so I did it - we shall see. I’ll go through the rest of your message later or tomorrow because I’m at a friends house right now and exhausted!!

Hi Elise only tagging you because I saw you helped out on yesterday's post
I didn't see her question on whether to shoot PMPS which was 267
I told her to shoot but she already got this answer from Facebook a group called Sugar Cats as you can see they told her to do a FAT 0;Looks like that was 0.10 to me
I just wanted to know if telling her to shoot 0.25 was the correct call from me even though she didn't see it until after she shot
I see Jolie was 88 @+2 following SLGS would you still tell her to stay with the 0.25 even though she just reduced the dose on 6-8 PMPS cycle
I know you are supposed to reduce any BG under 90 with SLGS

With SLGS you take a reduction every time you see a bg under 90, even though you are correct that the depot is in play. Her dues would be 0.10. There’s a lot going on here as well. She’s off hc, off steroids too. She’s also had to reduce from a too high dose and that is complicating finding a good dose.

Rochel, I am not familiar with that Facebook group. We have a Facebook group as well but they aren’t supposed to give dosing advice. It looks like Jolie is bouncing from being low or it will turn out she needs a little more insulin. Bounces can take 4-6 cycles to clear or clear quickly. I suggest you hold this dose for 7 days and try to feed enough to prevent a drop under 90.

IF you choose to switch to TR the reduction number changes and you dint take back to back reductions. It has the best chance at remission. If you switch it would be good to be able to get advice before each shot. Post the amps or pmps and add a question mark prefix. Then putting dosing advice in your subject.

I see you are on the easy coast. What is your shot time? I am on the west coast so likely won’t be around for your amps but might be at pmps. I can coordinate with others to make sure someone is around then. Just let me know.

Thanks so much Elise I'm glad she didn't take my advice and did what she did
So would she shoot 0.10 tomorrow?
