Some do better with ondansetron and others with cerenia. Ondansetron usually works best for nausea but as you know ECID. It worked well for Max. How often are you giving it and what dose?

I pilled my cats using an empty gel capsule and chased the pill with Gerbers baby food which all my cats have liked at least one flavor.

Using the piller requires a full burrito wrap & is quite traumatic. I never get away unscathed.

I use a tiny piece of a pill pocket when I have to give my cats pills. Sometimes they'll eat and sometimes I have to push it in the side of their mouth to get it past their tongue so they'll swallow it. How adorable!

She's mad from all the AM handeling. I edited the above re: pilling

The ondansetron dose for an 8+ lb cat is 2mg, not 1 mg. I give half a 4mg pill. Have you tried her with Churu or the equivalent? I have heard of people put I got onda in a gelcap and putting that in a pile of Churu. Cerenia is more bitter than ondansetron so will be more one a challenge orally. I used blank gelcaps for it.

Maus has spent most of her daytime life outside & will not be held; semi-feral is a stretch, but not a long one. She's always come in at night (we have coyotes, cougars, etc), doesn't mind being indoor, likes hanging out with me & brushes, but otherwise keeps herself at arm's length. The fact that I can do the ear pricks and insulin is a wonderment in itself & we have a special hold that she'll tolerate as long as a bit of sardine is under her nose.

The 2mg dose requires a piller with full burrito wrap & is very traumatic for both of us. After about 2 goes, she won't let me anywhere near & we start over with the trust thing. I've been able to sneak the 1mg bits in (1mg 4x daily) by various means of hiding in her food or treat adding up to 4mg per day. It works well when it works, but is a constantly moving target. I've tried 1/3 pill, but too big to hide. I think that as a cat who eats things she catches, she's very good at picking out the bad bits & swallows nothing whole. Every hiding morsel will at some point get chewed and within a day will be spit out. I've pilled many cats and Maus is the worst by a lot; always said, if this cat requires a pill to survive, she dead.

I don't mind doing the injection, she tolerates the 31 needle well, but was wondering if for IB/pancreatitis cerenia is a better option: seems to have anti inflammatory effect, plus once daily. Waiting to hear back from the vet

I know outside cats can be controversial, so I thought I'd post a pic of where Maus lives; pretty ideal as long as she comes in at night (hard rule). Greenhouse & workshop on the right, house in the middle, fully plumbed treehouse on left. Both neighbors have large & small animal barns & we'd be overrun with mice without our outside kitties

That is nature for you!

Looks like Maus is partying tonight.
Yes, I was thinking at 2.5 I should test, but my daughter made such a nice dinner for us I waited til +3. The honey is working well, thank you for that suggestion

I had to pill the ondansetron today and it did not go well - strong little bugger then disappeared for PM. Think I'll skip tonight. She seems okay; well enough to play hide & seek then chase :p
