His rate of dropping is not huge. It's a judgment call really, what do you think? You could probably go either way... I don't think it's going to be a huge deal if you wait to +2 to feed.

I think waiting is fine. Im not really sure what the benefit is of waiting or not waiting to feed. If you feed, you slow the drop. Why would you not want to slow the drop? Or maybe its just a matter of not filling him up for later? Confused.

Well, if it were my cat, I would want to let him drop into lower, healthier numbers -- numbers below the kidney threshold. Blues and greens are good, so the more time we can get him to spend there ... the better. So I don't want to intervene too early. Sometimes his rate of dropping is really precipitous and he needs more food intervention a little earlier on. Tonight, I think you can wait a bit to help him get into better numbers.

So, feeding him would make his nadir higher?

Maybe. Since his rate of drop hasn't been to terribly steep (for Merlin who can do spectacular dives in the early part of the cycle,) I think it's okay to let him drop due to the insulin doing it's job. Then perhaps when he's in some numbers that are healthy for him, we can try to keep him surfing with a little LC. This is my hope. Merlin may try to make a fool of me though! :)

Id like to test at +2.5, but is that too soon? How soon does food typically take effect? Should I wait? Poor little ears.

Well, if you want to, it's okay. You could see if you have slowed him a bit with the food you gave. Did he eat it okay?
Yes. He at it all up. What if we dont test? Could he drop too low? This is what is scary to me. It could speed up at any moment. Or not. I know food helps it slow down, but sometimes its not enough food. Ok… we will wait til +3.

I think he’s past the point where he dpes. Lot of dropping. He may visit the higher green soon. Soon you can go to bed (what will make you feel safe to do so?).

Well, we have been waiting until he starts to go back up. Do you think we dont have to? But then we wouldn’t know if he went into the green…

Good, perhaps we have a little surf going!

Test again in 20-30 minutes, and with SLGS those tests under 90 earn a reduction to 0.1u

While still safe numbers, please remember to take the reduction tomorrow as I noted. And, since you fed higher carb of 15% you want to make sure to watch for a few tests thereafter, since numbers can bobble around when the carbs wear off. And with that, I'm out :)

Yeah, the problem with that high carb food is that you'll have to stay up a little longer to make sure that he's staying stable. For a few more tests.

Well it's good, but you still have to wait until we are sure all the HC has cleared his system. It has been one hour since he at the 15% food, is that right? You're supposed to wait two hours after HC food to make sure. Can you set an alarm and test in one hour? Can anyone test him in an hour?

Ok. We will set an alarm and test in one hour at +7. Will post here. Thanks Suzanne.
