Hi all - Nellie's dental went well on Thursday. No extractions, just a cleaning + the vet said on the x-ray her roots look good and are healthy. One thing she did note was a build up of phlegm and some gurgling when they were prepping her. She did an x-ray of her lungs and checked out her heart and said it all looked normal. Since her bloodwork indicated she has an inflammation (elevated monocytes, among other things), vet gave her a shot of cerenia and convenia (she's had convenia before and had no adverse reactions to it/it's helped her in the past with another infection so I'm not concerned).

I'm actually wondering if she has possibly a very mild URI, since she had some ocular discharge yesterday and Friday. She gets conjunctivitis regularly because of her chlamydia, and the terramycin doesn't really work anymore. She also had very slight elevated monocyte levels when she was first diagnosed in March at another vet. Anyhow I wrote to the vet about this, because if she does have a URI or a mild infection going on due to chlamydia, the convenia won't do anything and she needs doxycycline. We'll see what she says.

Cycle 6 on 3 units post cleaning/skipped shot was this am, so looking to increase to 3.25 tonight. Was surprised that her sugars did not skyrocket after the skipped AM shot the day of her dental! She stayed in the low 100s at the vet and teetered up to the mid-100s afterwards.

hope everyone is having a great weekend.

The dental going well is a relief. I was very nervous about Budge (my civvie) and Bandit being under general anethesia for the procedure.
Good luck with the increase :-)
