05/29 Merlin PMPS 461 (pre-shot) 401 @+1 302 @+2 175 @+3 133 @+4, 88 @+4.5, 119 @+5, 182 @+6,169@6.5

I hope she’s asleep now. Or out having a life!
No answer to Merlin's +5 reading but i see the spreadsheet changed and shows still holding in the low yellows to mid yellows and he's only risen 1.7 mmol/L (30 mg/dl) in 1.5 hours, i think he will keep rising, hopefully slowly.
Update on today's cycle.
Morning Cycle 29 May,
AMPS 421 fed 15% 1/2 can
+1. 392
+1.5 293 fed 6.1 % 1 teas.
+2.5 189 fed 9.2% 1 teas
+3 160 fed 6.1% 1 teas
+3.5 221 no food.
+4.0 223 no food.
+5.0 252 no food.

A favour to ask of you Jill next time you update the subject line. Please remove the world numbers and use just the US ones. That will look less cluttered and allow you to put more data in the subject. Plus it’ll help anyone scanning the subject lines for who needs help to see where things are at. The conventional formal most people use is 5/29 Merlin AMPS 421 +1 392 +2.5 189 etc.

These daily posts are getting very long, so it is hard to step in to help part way through the day. Those summaries of tests and food Suzanne is doing help to summarize the situation.

Thank you for keeping the spreadsheet BG data up to date. You might want to describe the feeding data in terms of + hours, so people don’t have to do the math. When trying to figure out when and how much food to feed, one trick I have seen some people use is an * in the hour cell. Then it’s easier to visualize numbers and effect of food. The downside is the asterisk means the numbers don’t convert or colour properly. Even more painful when maintaining both US and World sheets, so it’s not something I did. But my girl didn’t drop like Merlin. Anyway, just an idea for your consideration. You want to do this in a way that helps and works for you.

Speaking of food, since Merlin has passed nadir and shoots up at the end of the cycle, I would limit feeding until PMPS. Feeding after nadir can impact duration.

Is it time for Merlin to eat yet?
Hi! Merlin got a spoonful of food at 4:00 right as I was scanning him. Nothing before that. I just got up from a nap so I missed the 5:00, but I see on the new app that it was 22.8. It’s 23.3 at 5:40. I will fill this all in on the ss now. I was going to feed him a little LC right now. Should I not?

Hi Wendy. Thanks for the info. I will change the title tonight and only use US numbers. I was using an asterisk already in the SS to indicate I had a different reading for an ear test than the libre readings I was regularly entering. I then used the asterisk in the notes to give the ear test reading. I could do something different for food, but it might get too busy by the numbers. Is it ok to just leave the food notes in notes if I use + hours instead of times?

Also, I see on the libre that there are only two days left. We have another sensor ready to install. I wonder if we should do that soon, or wait til this one finishes? Or should we just go to ear testing and give Merlin’s skin a break…but not his ears… It could very well quit in the middle of a session here, so just a warning. But we are very good at the ear pricking now.

Yes, it's OK to not use the asterisk in the SS itself. I was just using that as an example of what people have done to indicate feeding and seeing patterns between food and numbers. Using the +hours in the Remarks will help too.

Are you suggesting putting the new sensor on yourself? As far as when to switch, that's really up to you and your confidence and what you think Merlin needs. Once he's started to rise in a cycle, back half of the cycle, you don't really need that data. So it's not like you need a 1-1 replacement with Libre data and ear pricks.

Hi Jill when filling in test times that are half hours on your SS they are cutting off for instance the 189 @+2.5 if you look at your SS it's only showing 189 @2 you need to do a space after 189 then put +2.5 . so any time you have to do half hours just put the BG a space then the + hour

I said limit, not cut off feeding. You can do a small snack, but try to do one that's as low a carb as possible. An analogy one person told me, think of insulin after nadir (when it's strongest) as a car cruising to a stop sign with the gas now off the pedal. Any time you give carbs, you tap the brakes and slow the car further. You risk stopping the car early. Same as the insulin action stopping early. Lantus can last longer, but carbs late in the cycle will limit duration, giving you high preshots. A sign of lost duration vs bounce is if he goes right back to diving down the following cycle.

Jill take a break. Walk away from the meter. So something for you or your family until PMPS time.:bighug: Gotta takes these times in higher numbers as permission to just enjoy Merlin as a cat, not a diabetic one.
