AMPS 88

He woke us up twice last night (+5.75 & +7) wanting food (which he got, lol). Sometimes he'll go right through the night just fine, and then other times this happens. Before being diagnosed he'd wake us up every other hour (and not eat much during the day?!), so still improvement here!

Food given at AM+0 and +1

Current time +1.5; I have meetings this morning so planning to test at +3 (seems to be his lowest point lately)

@Bandit's Mom - Yeah, I did wonder if maybe he was low or if it was because he didn't want to eat as much in the evening. Sometimes he wakes us up and just wants attention as well; I'm hoping the Libre will help get a good read on what's going on all night so I can make better decisions.

Those greens do look good! Nice to be in a period of stability. :)

He’s handling the reductions like a pro. These cats are too smart but I do also think it’s possible he’s going lower.

+4 @ 52

Eating more food and will test +4.5, he seems determined to surf along in the 50s. Makes me nervous.
It’s nerve wracking but as long as you can test and feed you will keep him safe. I think the depot is gone so he could earn a reduction soon.

Having some more food.

So on days where I can't be around to test and feed, what is the the best course of action?

I thin’ tge epit is gone
Was that supposed to be "I think the depot is gone" or something else? :)

Lol. Yes! Sorry. If you can’t be around feed higher carbs and leave out higher carbs. You may need to give a token dose or skip depending on how early in the cycle you need to leave.

60 @ +5.75

We have our vet appointment in an hour and a half. I'm in a meeting for the next hour so will have DH feed him at +6.5.

You could try a reduction (even though he hasn't earned one per TR). The change from high carb dry to low carb seems to be doing wonders.
I was going to ask if there are ever circumstances where you would do an early reduction? He's not quite halfway through the week since the last reduction; I do wonder if the only reason he's not dropping below 50 today is that I've been feeding him lol.

Libre installed and working (for now, I'm cautiously optimistic about how long it will stay on / keep working)

88 @ +8.75 on Libre!

He's been getting food literally all day so maybe a food bump or bounce? I wasn't able to test for a bit so hard to know what happened in that gap... will plan on doing a reduction tonight to 0.75U and see what happens...

PMPS 106, went ahead with the reduction and shot 0.75U

He had some food at +0; will see where he is at +1

The PMPS is probably a bit of a bounce. It's within meter variance of yesterday's 94 and there must be some difference between the Libre and your meter.
(The Libre sometimes gives wonky numbers. If you see any strange numbers, get a test with your regular meter)

Good luck with the reduction! :-)

@Bandit's Mom - thanks! seeing that blue nearly gave me second thoughts about reducing. He was still higher at +1 but is coming down now. Could stress from his vet visit have also been a factor? He's a good boy for the doctor but he hates going there. :(

107 @ +1
78 @ +1.5

Have fed at +1.5

Scanning him is amazing, so easy. I need to convince DH to get one of these things for himself!

Yes, vet stress can also contribute to higher BGs. Is Cinna tolerating the sensor? Some people put a collar or a shirt on the sensor to prevent kitty from going at it.

DH also has diabetes?

Cinna doesn't really seem to notice it's even there. He's an old man, so pretty low activity level, doesn't do a lot of grooming, so I'm somewhat hopefull it'll stay on.

DH was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 15 years old. His gym coach noticed he was losing weight. He manages it really well, he doesn't see the value in a continuous monitor (aka he doesn't want to pay for it lol).

71 @ +2
54 @ +2.5 (alarm sounded so I scanned), here we go...

have fed some LC and will scan again at +3, if he drops below 50 will confirm with test on regular meter :nailbiting:

74 @ +4
53 @ +4.25

More LC was given between +4 and +4.25; the alarm went off... will scan again at +4.5

83 @ +4.5 - I'm assuming the 53 @ 4.25 was just the sensor messing up or he just bounced really fast?

@Bandit's Mom - spoke too soon, the app alarm went off and he's dipping into the 50s. Determined that mom will not be sleeping tonight lol.

54 @ +5.5

I've given him some more food. The alarm goes if he is below 55. Hoping he'll start heading up soon. I'll scan again at +6.
