Tigger's eating, is awake, but lethargic, he has reduced water intake but gets water that is added to his wet food.
Consistently low BG after switching to Lantus, 3.5 IU (we're in Canada). Please see SS.
Unable to test consistently. Any help or advice.
Next PMPS is 11 pm (EDT) - 3.5 IU of Lantus - Fed as per signature with drops of honey when BG is below 3.5
Help!

Also you need to reduce the dose of insulin with the drops under 2.8 (50) you had both today and yesterday. If you get a drop un der 50 you need to reduce the dose immediately at the next shot. New dose is 3.25 units
Can you get any tests in during the PM cycle.it is important as cats often drop lower at night

It looks like the dose is too high, started by the Caninsulin dose being too high previously unfortunately. For Lantus we follow two different dosing methods, as found here:
Dosing Methods
You've already had a few cycles where Tigger has dropped under 50 (2.8 mmol/L) so you should have taken a reduction regardless of the dosing method.

Also, I would strongly suggest you try and get at least a before bed test, and you may think about perhaps shifting the shot times so you can do that, if it isn't currently possible. Without any nighttime tests, you are missing half the picture.

If Tigger hasn't had any issues with ketones in the past, you may want to skip tonight's dose if you can't monitor and start back with 3.25u tomorrow.

Would you please explain what you mean by not able to test constantly? If you can’t get an amps, pmps and at least one other test each cycle I suggest following SLGS. Reductions would be at 90. Have you read our dosing methods ?

Thank you for the help.
We will skip tonight's dose and start off tomorrow as 3.25.
We will try to get more tests tonight.
Have given him more w/d food

Please update as soon as possible with BG numbers and the PMPS. I am worried about Tigger. I know it’s late there since you are in the same time zone as I am (Eastern). I know you said you are skipping tonight so that gives me some comfort.

Hope he will now come up into more comfortable numbers - even though 3.6 is safe of course. It’s just that it was a long day. I see he’s up to 4.3 :cat:

BG at 4.3 at 11:49 pm EDT. Will do bed time test. In Ottawa & lost power after big storm. About to lose cell charge until am.

Whew, yes. Thank you, thank you, thank you all. Making adjustments for 10 am AMPS . Will update with bed time test result in the morning.

Great job!! When you use the 911, as soon as you have somebody helping you, please go ahead and edit the subject line and change it to "no prefix"....that way if something else happens (like he drops too low again) you can use the 911 again instead of people thinking it's the same one from earlier.

Noted with thanks. Will do

As you are skipping this dose, if you want to move the scheduled shot time to an earlier slot, you can do it in the morning as you gave no shot tonight. For example, if an 8 am:8 pm schedule would be better, you can do that tomorrow. If your current schedule suits you that is fine too.
