5/20 Gumung Amps 68/ pmps 62

Don't hesitate to use a little higher carbs, if necessary, to keep him safely over 50 and take a break from tests (and also a nap!).
The higher depot will affect his numbers today and tomorrow.

Ok, thank you Bhooma!
I will have to find higher carb food that he likes. Recently ordered gravy grilled version of FF. Hope he likes them and be easier to get him up for food..

How is he dealing with all the testing? He is seeing pretty flat cycles. Especially with the higher carb, you can take some breaks from testing (need not test every hour, that is).
You need to look after yourself to be able to take care of him.

Of course! And thank you, I will take care of myself too. He is more comfortable in testing. I had problems when testing before, his ears were so cold, couldn’t get any blood. But with small rice bag in my sock, I can test in a second and done with it. :joyful: But, my concern now is that his excessive hunger got controlled, can’t really get him to eat well like before.

When he had excessive hunger(even before diagnosed with diabetes), he used to eat any can food. But now, he’s getting pickier and pickier.

I have ordered several different MC and HC mostly Fancy feast and wellness core in chicken pate (LC). Will have to try and see what he really can eat.

If he doesn’t eat MC (a/d - he used to love it) I give him high carb snacks. Is that ok too? Like pill pocket or greenies? Just to keep his BGs high?

That's great! A big relief not to have to struggle with testing now that he's seeing lower numbers.

You want to avoid dry food and treats because they metabolize differently from wet food. With wet food, you know that the carbs are out of the system in 2 hours. But with dry food, one does not know how long the carbs continue to affect the numbers and when it is safe to stop testing.
Not sure if Greenies pill pockets would qualify as dry treats though... @Wendy&Neko ?

You can also add a little honey/syrup to LC food to increase carb% - if there is a LC food that he still loves and eats.

Honey, noted! I just never thought that I would struggle feeding him anything. He acts like he is tired with Fancy feast pate, and all of sudden he’s gobbling down Wellness core chicken and liver?
I would lay out few different food and let him to choose..
that’s why I couldn’t sleep deeply since he didn’t like to eat MC..

I also have Hills C/D which in the list, it showed it as HC, he also didn’t even touch it. ( this was for my other cat who had crystals but Gumung always steal her C/D food)

I am thinking, maybe from long time ago, he had signs pf diabetes and I didn’t notice, like eating a-lot from year ago?

Ahha, I guess I have to try all different food so he could be safe in low BGs.

Rotating foods can help overcome food fatigue. You could keep the FF away for a few days since he is tired of it and feed Wellness and bring the FF back after a week or so. I find that works with my cats. They get boed of a food but are willing to eat it after a few days of not eating it.

Oh! Thats good idea! I will try that from tonight.

I don't think there are any LC pill pockets anymore. Back in the day, I used to use the Allergy Free Duck and Pea (dog version) and they were LC. Don't think they are made anymore. We've had people use Temptations as HC to get their cat higher. But as Bhooma said, the problem is knowing when they are out of the system.

I see. Dry high carb treats are no good, noted! I have to cancel my order then :D
Just wanted to have something that when Gumung feels like not eating anymore and his BGs need to bump. :nailbiting:
