5/18 Max AMPS 368 +3 325

I just got a copy of Max’s medical records to take with us tomorrow to cardiology. Last time he had labs he had 2+ protein in his urine and someone here asked about his UPCR so I called the vet back and asked for it to be done. I never heard back but I was just looking at his records and see that she did ask for it to be done. I screen shotted it so you could see it. The vet recommended a renal diet but I’m just doing lower phosphorus foods. He gets Weruva, and also Instinct rabbit (which is not low phosphorus but it seems to help with his IBD) He also gets EZ complete with ground turkey mixed in the Instinct rabbit. That’s the only way he will eat it. Any other recommendations on his diet for now?

Neko also had proteinuria. Her vet, as Tanya's site suggests, did a second test a couple weeks later to make sure it wasn't a one off. Once it's confirmed, you need to know what is causing it. Getting his blood pressure done is an easy first test. That will be done as part of his cardio workup. Ask for the results.

You do want proteinuria treated, to slow down progression of CKD. But figuring out what causes it is the first step.

Okay thanks. I’m sure they will repeat his labs anyway. They usually do.
