5/15 Mookitty PMPS 572 +1 543

Have you tried baby food? When Max was like that I sometimes finger fed it to him. As I said yesterday it needs to be 100% protein, no garlic or onion.

Other food options that might work are some of the other creamy products, like TikiCat Velvet Mousse line. I've also just baked/boiled some chicken or turkey and blended it to a mousse texture with some of the boiling water. It's not a complete meal, but good for the short term.

Mookitty really needs more insulin. Even the 0.9 unit dose wasn't getting her nadirs consistently below 150. When my cat wasn't eating much, I was fine giving her the full dose as long as she got 2/3 of her calories in. And that was a dose that was seeing green nadirs.

On yesterday's post you said you didn't get any pain meds other than the 1 shot. Cats are notoriously good at hiding pain, but this Feline Grimace Pain scale is a good one to help you figure out how she's doing at home.

I plan to up the dose next cycle but i strongly disagreed on going to 0.9 all at once till i know i can syringe feed or she a eats at least a portion of what she normally does. All her values previously were while eating or at least syringe feeding successfully (and with extremely high carb high fat food which isnt great for pancreatitis). It was under pressure to try to feed hourly and it was a massive struggle. I cant describe how panicked i was trying to syringe fred when i thought I was treating to beat a ticking clock. I was losing it.

I cant get hardly anything down her today with the syringe. She is struggling in every way she physically can and that's with her wrapped in a towel and me holding her very tight. I'll keep bumping up the dose of insulin based on this cycle but i just cant handle 0.9 right now. Everything is way too much pressure and there is a limit to what I can handle that people need to keep in mind. I don't want people recommending me 0.9 out of false confidence that i can force food down her on command because it isn't working. I need a dosage that would match not eating at all and then i can adjust from there. Her ketones are fine. They are not the highest they have been when she was feeling fine.

She ate a tiny bit for the first time at +4. Not much. A few bites.

For dogs, not so true with cats. Having a couple cans of either Royal Canin Recovery or A/D around can also be helpful. Their texture is easy to syringe. Sometimes getting a bit of food in will stimulate them to eat on their own, that's what happened with Neko and Recovery. And it's not their own food. If you syringe their regular food, it can cause them to not want to eat it on their own.

As for insulin dose, we are just worried about ketones/DKA and have seen how that can go south rather quickly. Keep testing for ketones regularly as you have been. Keep trying different foods to see if something appeals to her. I hope you'll be able to get ondansetron tomorrow, I found it made a world of difference.

Good to hear she ate a bit, that's a start. :bighug:

any update on Mookitty? I see you are increasing the dose, you should follow a dosing method like SLGS or TR so that Mookitty gets regulated. It really helped my boy Hendrick to follow a dosing method.
