Having some issues getting Bruce’s dose right and I’m wondering if anyone out here switched from ProZinc to Lantus and achieved a more reliable response?

I switched my boy last Saturday. I tagged a member that should be able to help you. Good luck!

Every cat is different and will react differently to a change of insulin.
We have had cats that have done the swap and had good results.
However I think you need to be doing more testing in the pm cycles. At the moment you only have 1 evening of testing in the pm cycle and those tests were in the green.
Your kitty could very well be dropping to green BGs on multiple cycles and you would not know.
You seem to be getting good duration during the cycles.
Are you feeding snacks during the cycles as well as the preshot meals?

He hasn't even been on the ProZinc for thirty days yet (well... I mean we don't have 30 days of data yet.) I would try to gather all the data possible and then make a decision after 30 days (it's not going to be that much longer since your spreadsheet starts on 4/18).

We just switched (literally Monday night) from ProZinc to Lantus. I don't have enough data yet to say for certain its working better.
But Per the insert that comes with ProZinc, typically cats will see (1) "regulation" between 45-60 days; and (2) duration of 10-14 hours. The decision to switch was based on our cat being on Prozinc for a little over two months and she was not getting the standard duration on it.
We also were at the end of the ProZinc bottle so the timing was right.

Since you have made a switch in insulin to Lantus, please take a look at the sticky notes at the top of the Lantus board. Dosing with Lantus is different than what you experienced with Prozinc. Also, since you've now transitioned for a week, you will want to increase Cleo's dose.

Have you also switched to U100 syringes? (Prozinc requires a U40 syringe.)

I'd also encourage you to post on the Lantus board. There are a lot of very dedicated Lantus, etc. users there who can help you with making the switch and getting used to the dosing methods, especially with TR.

Okay wait... I think there's confusion. It's Bruce Wayne's dad who was inquiring about switching from PZ to Lantus (Bruce is still on ProZinc) but Angela (Angela and Cleo) was saying that she just transitioned to Lantus last Monday. And I saw that you said increase (you may have been looking at Bruce Wayne's spreadsheet) and I thought you meant that Cleo should get an increase (which I didn't think could be right since Cleo has been getting good green streaks lately.)
