Cali seems to like this dose a lot!:D
Cali seems to like this dose a lot!:D

Thank you both @Bandit's Mom and @tiffmaxee. And she is loving the “feeds” even if it is a morsel at a time.
Her 5 P’s are definitely evident with the Levemir. Now she wants to be a lap baby [but still growls, hisses, huffs, and scratches with her CATITUDE] if things are not done on her terms. Thank goodness my “new” tuxedo is fast to escape her posturing or attempted attacks. He provides the bit of exercise she needs!

My tortie didn’t have any attitude but was the one in charge too. She did have the outgoing personality. She was playful and gave Max his only exercise as he didn’t like toys much.

@AM+2 [83]
Earlier onset today at 2.25U? How often to test to catch big drops? How do you determine if this is beginning of new cycle OR when a NADIR extends beyond the prior PM cycle?

Edited to add AM+4 [63] so active cycle with earlier onset today. Fed 1tsp LC& tiny dab 13%

It's possible her onset is at +2.25. Not sure if you have ever tested between +2 and +3 before?

With Levemir, the nadir can be as late as +13 or +14. If she keeps dropping till the end of the cycle and beyond (even before insulin onset of the next cycle), it is the nadir of the previous cycle. In this case, she has risen to 130 and then dropped at onset.

Does look like she is headed for a reduction soon.

I'm going to bed in a bit so I'll tag @tiffmaxee to watch out for you.

hi Bhooma. I thought you were probably not available and I was struggling on even how to ask the question correctly. This challenge is to apply the theory of Levemir action versus the cat’s action. Thanks for clarifying.

I may be able to manage the surf this cycle [reduction is 40 for us long term diabetics, yes?]. She is quite cooperative with eating as offered and seems to be very carb sensitive such that a dab of MC keeps her steady.

yes, please tag @tiffmaxee to watch out for me. Cali’s body seems to be really responding to the Levemir and is giving me fast tracked learning requirements! I love it

@AM+5, [67] fed 1/2tsp LC w tiny dab 13%
will test again @+6 which is her normal midday meal

if she is still rising @ +6, just give regular LC 1tsp midday meal??

I have only tested between +2 and +3 in PM cycles [+2.5] See 4/12/22.

@+8.5 [101] fed 1tsp LC
Surfed through the daytime cycle with regular LC food, aided by 2 small dabs of MC13% @+4 and +5

Cali's loving the Levemir and the dose!

She went down to 70 overnight, then drifted up to 130, so that 83 this morning was either an early onset, or a double dip where they do a little dip towards the end of the cycle, but not as low as the main one.

Lev nadirs can actually be later than +14, I spotted nadirs at +15 with Neko. Who tended to be stylishly late to everything. :rolleyes:

Thanks for your review Wendy. Whatever happened this morning, she gives us a new surprise every day.
All day today we practiced testing Cali in bed to speed up the testing time and keep her ears warmer [usually icy cold like my hands].

PMPS 234 fed regular LC
See notes on SS regarding partial fur shot due to Carepoint syringe smooth glide action that may release early. Manufacturer said these vet insulin needles work best when using

Care point needles designed for use with bottles of insulin such that air is pushed into bottle thereby releasing the negative vacuum.
Cali’s fur did not feel wet but I could smell insulin. Guess we will see impact later this evening.
