Seems I remember that there were two kibbles one could utilize. I know Young again was one. Was the other DR Elseys? I hope so because I bought it for my Joe to use as kind of a topper

Nice to see Joe around! I saw his posts now and again when he was having serious issues. Wanted to give you a helpful fyi… dr e’s chicken and salmon kibble has had a month long supply chain issue. They have been out of chicken for a month. Plan accordingly ;)

We bought a small bag of Rabbit. From Chewy. Joe thinks he is in heaven to get a few morsels sprinkled on his dinner

Joe is doing better today. Has gained most of his weight back. Has Panc flare-ups from time to time and loses some weight again. His vet has recently given in on meds for Panc, we have Mirtz for appetite stimulant and Tramadol for pain to go with his Cerenia. I will tell him you asked about him

Awwww looooook at hiiim! Love this! I guess he is in the same “drug club” as lando! Familiar rx names

The saving thing for me was making Joes food. Every day was a challenge to see if he would like what was presented. We tried so many Weruva's and Tiki Cats. I have a closet full of things he turned his nose up at. I now make him chicken thighs with completer added and he loves his food.

Hmmm wow you are describing the challenge in my house. I may have to look into making food at home ( look again). I was always hesitant because i dont eat animals, and somehow its easier for me to disassociate by opening a can.
But it seems like its worked wonders for joe! Ill dig up the old links ;)

There are instructions on their website. My daughter does not eat meat either and I could not imagine her having to do it :cat: but it did save me so much stress and anxiety.
4lbs chicken thighs cooked in water in the crockpot until done (160 degrees) then chopped, add all juice/water from crockpot, add scant 1/2 cup completer, stir and put in individual containers and freeze. Makes him about 10 days of food if he does not eat anything else. I serve all his meals to him as soup by adding more water at serving time.

Thank you! This is very helpful. Big props to your daughter. And yes haha a cat is definitely not a vegans best pet option, but i love my guys!!!

I use Wysongs Epigen 90 and he loves it. I supplement it with Weruva. He loves the Wysongs dry which is low carb or Dr Elseys. But I have to keep it in an air tight container because as soon as it gets a bit old, he won’t eat. That includes dry food left in dish overnight
He loves the Weruva rabbit pate which is a juicier pate than FF, which Mikey refuses. Of all the cat food I have tried he likes Weruva- glad they finally have meat options. But some flavors he absolutely ignores

I want to look into homemade food as well, ty for the link @Susan Pomo and a quick run-down on how you make 10 days worth. Might give it a go.

our six furpeople eat friskies, FF, weruva, tiki and a couple others, all go down well BUT I am not liking how high in phosphorus many of the FF flavors are. 400-500, in particular the ones Hendrick LOVES (Chunky Turkey / Chunky Chicken Feast)

so need to start thinking about other options.

I am currently using Dr Elseys Rabbit as a topper for Joes homemade food and he is in heaven. He only gets about 10 pieces a day
