Looking for a new doctor for my Micio, anybody in here that lives on the Indianapolis (South) area that can recommend a good and reliable one?
It took me awhile to finally find, what I thought, a reliable new clinic after I randomly got to know my old vet was retiring this spring. Micio is 18 yrs old and has multiple health conditions: IBD, EPI, HEART MURMUR, DIABETES, ACROMEGALY and some ARTHRITIS and, unfortunately, he needs to be seen by doctors very often.
I don't expect emergency services from a regular vet but, when I found last clinic, I made it clear that when Micio needs to see a doctor it needs to happen sooner then several weeks for an appointment.
I was recently in need of a Dr. suggestion about meds as Micio seemed to had a bad reaction to it and ended up with a few seizures but I was told the Dr. that seen him before wasn't available for over a week and other doctors (in the same clinic) couldn't help me neither cause Micio's health is too "complex" and he's not their patient so I have to go to an ER to hear what I'm supposed to do with the medications....I ended up quitting the meds, temporarily, and luckily Micio's back to normal. I even attempted to make an appointment with the IM at the ER specialty Hospital but they only take referrals from regular vet, will try to ask for one on Monday but, anyway, already told me they're 4-6 weeks booked up.
All I wanted to know at that time was what to do with the meds and don't think a phone call from the doctor was too much to ask. The behavior and response from the clinic was totally unacceptable after being assured "you came to the right place with the best care and we have so many doctors here and Micio can get in quickly whenever he needs..." but yet when I needed them they pushed me away.
No many clinics accepts new patients and, because of Micio's multiple issues, I need a vet that can deal with it and in a timely manner as new problems keep rising any day.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
