Hello! We upped Clyde dose today and it seems to be really bringing him down.

We are +2 and down to 68 on a pet meter - I just gave him 1/2 can of FF.

What is my next best move?

That's a good drop, and it's still early in the cycle. What do you have for MC or HC? Please test again 30 minutes from that +2 and post so I can see where you are at. And put a pot of coffee on, you may need to monitor closely tonight.

Have you gotten another test? Since you just fed 1/2 can FF, you don't want to feed too much in case you need to continue feeding more frequently and a little longer through the cycle, you don't want to fill him up too quickly. You can open the gravy food, squeeze out some of the gravy from that and give a teaspoon or two.

any chance you re-tested to make sure it was a valid test? Any time you get a test that's so out of character, it's a good idea to test again immediately to make sure it was right.

Assuming it was, just test again 30 minutes after the Fancy Feast you fed. Hopefully that'll be enough to keep him from dropping any lower but you're going to need to stay close for the next few hours

I just did a +2.5 and he’s 101, which seems much more in character for him.

He did eat the 1/2 can FF ~30mins ago as well. I will watch for the next few hours for sure.

Might be worth noting in your comments when you get a chance that you fed 1/2 can FF at +2 and going forward anytime you have lower numbers jotting down what you feed and when. It helps for future reference to be able to go back and see what worked (or what didn't work). The good news is you only fed 1/2 can regular FF. I panicked way back when I first started and got a steep drop and fed 1/2 can FF 20%. That's when I learned Maverick goes high just at the smell of carbs lol.

Some kitties are just more carb sensitive than others. It's good to be able to get a sense of how Clyde reacts to carbs as well as the insulin.

Good advice! I have added that to my notes!

He has jumped up onto his cat tower and started to snooze; seeming much more in routine for the evening. Will test in 15mins.

Love it, he's all cool as a cucumber, meanwhile he's got us all interested in his BG levels, cheeky monkey

It's interesting, hard to speculate since I see there were some troubles getting tests midcycle today, but it seems like he was coming down through to PMPS so you may have had a little carryover from the am dose. Well either way, whether +2 was a little off (bad test) hope the rest of the cycle is shenanigan free :)

The first time my China dropped below 50, I knew I could give her some syrup but hadn't learned how much so I dumped about a cup full into a bowl (she actually loved it!)....later on, I learned I was supposed to give her a drop or two, not half the bottle!....LOL (at least her blood glucose went up...and up....and up!!)

So we are +3.25, and he is back down to 81.

I did give him a pure bite as he’s not loving all the tests LOL

Clyde's making it look easy (of course he's a cat and expects it to be easy!)

Keep hanging 10 Clyde!!
