AMPS 140, +2 272! Suddenly double-checking his breakfast...was supposed to be LC only. Wife gave him some FF Gourmet Naturals Pate which she thought was like 3% calories from carbs but when I use this calculator: http://fnae.org/carbcalorie.html

and these values from Purina's site:

Crude Protein (Min)

9.0%

Crude Fat (Min)

5.0%

Crude Fiber (Max)

1.5%

Moisture (Max)

78.0%

Ash (Max)

3.5%

Taurine (Min)

0.05%

I get 12.9% calories from carbs. Can someone double-check me?

Yup, I'm getting the same value of % calories from carbs. The values published in the US on websites and food labels is Guaranteed Analysis which is only an estimation. To know the correct carb% you need As Fed values. However, it's unlikely that there is so much of a difference.

Strange! I thought FF Pates were low carb. These ones all have broth - I wonder if there is some rice or vegetables added to the broth.

Found this post by @A Fae on our FB group:

"I finally found Fancy Feast Gourmet Naturals Pate carbohydrates on a dry matter basis from CHEWY.
It's been very hard finding the carb content of the newer Gourmet Naturals, I couldn't even get the "dry matter basis" from Purina, they only gave me the "as fed" amount. Chewy does the best they can researching and answering customer questions. I finally found some of the info I was searching for.
I wanted to share with other members as the list we refer to does not have Gourmet Naturals content yet.
Fancy Feast’s Gourmet Naturals Variety Pack 12 cans
White Meat Chicken, Beef, Wild Alaskan Salmon, and Trout & Tuna
Carb content on a dry matter basis.
PATE
Beef Recipe Carbohydrate content of 3% as frd and 13.63% on a dry matter basis.
Trout & Tuna Recipe Carbohydrate content of 2% as fed and 9.09% on a dry matter basis.
White Meat Chicken Recipe Carbohydrate content of 2.7% as fed and 12.27% on a dry matter basis.
IN GRAVY
Wild Alaskan Salmon & Shrimp Recipe in Gravy
Carbohydrate content of 1.40% as fed and 7.0% on a Dry Matter basis.
White Meat Chicken Recipe in Gravy
Carbohydrate content of 1.4% as fed and 7.1% on a dry matter basis.
Fancy Feast Gourmet Naturals Beef Recipe in Gravy
Carbohydrate content of approximately 2.2%. ("as fed" would be about 13% on a dry matter basis)
INFORMATION FROM CHEWY.COM WEBSITE"

what a screwup. Not doing an increase now, gotta double-check everything we're feeding and get this crap under control and see how he does going forward being fed actual LC food. This may well be responsible for his lack of lower greens or any greens at all past few days

my wife went ahead and bought 36 cans of that FF gourmet natural turkey pate from Chewy the other day....and now we find out it's 12.9%

/facepalm

I totally understand the frustration we just went through that here with the purina pro plan. Chewy is excellent at taking stuff back you could exchange or just keep for some mc if he needs it

Can you feed it to a different cat? Sorry about this mess.

A lot of the time Chewy will just refund you and tell you to donate it to a shelter.... at least they used to... I've noticed their customer service has gone downhill a lot. It kind of depends on who you get a hold of at the company.

holy #$% 103 is the lowest +2 ever seen. I really think the food mixup recently was holding him back bigtime

usually +2 is like...calm before the storm. Big drops have happened at 2/3

gave 7% pate mixed with 2% raw snack. Thinking of checking again here in 10 min which will be +2.5

maybe give some 10% DM savory selects if dropping fast? 15% ff gravy lovers?

Okay. Don’t freak out and go to gravy lover’s right off the bat! Wait and see

That’s good. I’m hoping for a nice flat lantus cycle.

same here! I got a five-star nap in earlier I'm ready!

...10 mins later:
