Thank you. Reduced dose, no low overnight. Should I increase slightly?

Thank you for helping us. I just started the freestyle and she had a low of 50 the night before last when she woke me for food. I gave her the usual 2 units of Lantus the night before when her bg was 298. I didn't know what to do. I followed guidance here to lower her evening dose to 1 unit. I did that and set my alarm overnight to check her glucose. It was 214 which is not perfect but better than 50. Do you think I should increase the dose twice a day to 1.5? I am grateful. I need to get her regulated because she has been losing weight for several months and we are hoping this will help.
Thank you.

Dayna -

Have you had a chance to put together a spreadsheet for Biddy?

With Lantus, you want to hold the dose for several days since the dose is based on the lowest number in the cycle and not the pre-shot test numbers. I'm not sure if this issue was addressed in your thread from Thursday.

I have not filled in the spreadsheet but created it and have been recording glucose numbers and food. It is a mess to be honest. Thank you for explaining how this works. I feel out of my depth... clueless. I'm going to do as you said and put together the spreadsheet this weekend. The first few days I wrote down everything and it is a lot. The jagged graph is very embarrassing but I am in the right place to learn. I understand a little more and will not change dose based on one glucose reading even though I want to. Her bg this evening is 353.
My greatest fear is that she will not stop losing weight in time to save her life. For six months we have been absolutely going down all the wrong paths. Thank you.
