Supplements for Anemia?

B-Complex is helpful for anemia. I use Jarrow B-Right capsules. These are for people, but you get yourself some size 4 gelatin capsules and divide the B-Right into 10 gelcaps for kitty. This has helped my cats with CKD who have been anemic. If the anemia becomes severe, additional action is necessary (medication.) The real question is: why is your kitty anemic? Injections of B-12 which can be given at home can also help.

I inject B12 now but it is not the B complex.

The vet is useless at this point. He just said "he is slightly anemic" and did not offer any help. I am currently talking to another cat only vet. He's had low values for about3 months.

I'm sorry about that vet. When is the last time Peeps had labs done?

Wait ... I see the 3/9 ones on your SS. Let me look.

I am attaching a page called All About Anemia from the felinecrf.org site (phenomenal website). It is very long. Down toward the bottom it talks about using B-Vitamins to help with anemia. It discusses CKD related anemia and non-CKD related anemia causes.

Does Peeps drink a lot of water or urinate in large amounts (when his numbers are blue?)

From December 2021 to March 2022, there has been a significant drop in Peeps' hematocrit. That is very concerning. You really do need to get a new vet. When the HCT drops below 20, many vets will start treatment with ESAs like Epogen or Darbepoetin (also explained in that webpage that I attached.) He's not there yet and let's hope he's not going to get there, but it is very concerning.

After you get this UTI cleared up, you should recheck to make sure that it's cleared (urinalysis). It's possible the UTI is causing his BUN to be high. Then you can repeat labs. I would not wait more than a month after 3/9 to repeat the bloodwork.

That Liqui-Tinic is a B-Complex Supplement with some of the B Vitamins in it. How long have you been giving it?
Does Peeps eat it okay? It wasn't a hit with my cat when my vet prescribed it. B Vitamins taste and smell just awful so it's hard to mask them. That's why I went to the gelcap method with the Jarrow B-Right.

He eats it fine but every time I use it his BG's go through the roof like tonight. Not sure why but at this point I don't know what to do. I found a new vet and am talking to her now.

I just checked my old bottle (from years ago) of it and it has a lot of nasty ingredients - long list of chemicals. I would not give this to my cat if I were you - especially since it makes his BG rise.
