Hi, I posted about my kitty, Dimi, for the first time yesterday. He was diagnosed 2 months ago, he is currently receiving 3 units of Lantus twice/day. His BG has been all over the place. Yesterday I withheld his kibble - Purina ProPlan DM - and he stayed within a healthy range for a good part of the day for the first time. I didn't give him a PM shot because his BG was 100 at shot time and then dropped to 56 a half hour later. This morning he is registering at HI on the Libre. I'm seeking guidance on how much to give him this AM. 3 units seemed to be too high without the kibble, but now that he's bounced so high, I'm not sure what to do. I'd appreciate advice. Many thanks, Bobbi

it is not recommended to change the dose based on the pre-shot BG, doses get reduced or increased based on the point when the insulin is really peaking and the BG is lowest (known as the nadir)

Sorry you didn't get help in time but this forum may not have as many eyes on it as the Lantus forum, for this sort of advice most people post on the Lantus forum with a 911, and tag some senior members. That usually gets a quicker response.

Thanks for your reply, and for letting me know that there is a Lantus forum; I wasn't aware. So much info. on FDMB that it's a bit overwhelming. I'm still trying to find my way around.
