Trying to get in a few more tests - and get my freehand technique right - at the moment I'm about 40% she doesn't feel it at all and 60% she most definitely does.

Want to move away from using the lancing device to minimise impact on the ears.

Good luck with Whiskey today!

I didn't know you could ever get to a point, or have a technique that results in kitty not even feeling it. I have noticed a handful of times where I jab and he doesn't flinch, squeak, or anything...I guess those times I did it in some sort of particular way where he didn't feel it?

I would love to know exactly how I did it, I have no idea. Is there a particular technique you can describe?

What seems to work well is if I leave the lancet in the lancing pen (gives me more of a pen like thing to hold, and more surface for a better grip) and approach the ear at a very low angle (like almost parallel to it) and gently stick it in after applying vaseline or something to make the blood bead. It makes quite a shallow ding for the blood though, and it is hit and miss whether it is enough, even for my glucometer which doesn't take much blood. It does seem that the further I push in the more she reacts, but I really also think it is angle related, as I managed to do a proper piercing today and she didn't even flinch.

Been trying to find a video clip that shows a good freehand lancing technique, but not much luck - just a lot of videos of how to test BG on a cat.

I’m glad she stopped vomiting. Fungus is one thing I don’t know anything about. I hope someone else has ideas. @JaxBenji might know about this but she’s not around much.
Sorry I don't have anything to add! @carfurby might - she had recommended some ear drops but I never used them (and I apparently didn't save what she recommended - maybe Carala will remember).

As a side note, I'm team lancet lol

I am totally on board with doing it free-handed! You can do it! Much quieter for kitty and you control everything.
