Her sugar was back to 99 last night at +4
But this morning back to 107 ahhh :(

I don’t know if this would have any effect, but last Tuesday… Chloe’s fur brother, who she doesn’t have contact with haha or really care for (stays in another room when she’s out in the house with her sister) accidentally ran into her room and under the bed and caused a ruckus for a bit in there. He stays with his buddies on the other side of the house and they all get along well but they don’t interact with Chloe and her sister, who get along fine and stay together in the room.
Seems like since then she has been more anxious and hyper vigilant about looking at the door and checking under the bed, like is he there or where is he? Where as before she probably knew they were there but never saw them and so wasn’t a thought for her. Just something that could be causing some anxiety perhaps?
She doesn’t seem to have as much pain in the leg when I touched it this morning and she was trying to jump on the couch but didn’t quite have her confidence yet. So I helped her, but she didn’t yelp as much as last time. Maybe it was just muscle pain from lack of use and then she started using it?
I also gave her different food starting I think Thursday. We’ve been adding in some purina pro plan kitten for more calories and still alternating the FF pate also.
These are just some things I thought of and wanted to bc ask about.
Any thoughts on this or am I just crazy haha
Thank you :)

Hi Mary and Happy Sunday!

I can relate to kerscuffles in the house, every now and again, lol. It might raise the BG after a hissy fight, but a healthy pancreas will provide the insulin necessary to get back to normal. We want Chloe's remission strong enough to handle daily life, including what you described:)

Let's see if @tiffmaxee or someone else thinks you should dose a drop, or continue as you are. Barely over 100 isn't bad, just not ideal.

Relax - I always tell myself that Sundays are for relaxing and regeneration. I try!

thanks so much for your input!
I understand what you mean. It does always go back down but I know every little thing shouldn’t impact her.
I know she said occasionally is ok but the trends are important. So definitely have to watch that.
There’s a lot of stress in our house this week I think so perhaps it isn’t helping

Does the kitten food contain more carbs? That could also do it. How about eliminating it today and tonight and giving her another day or two to see if her numbers come down.

Is she getting a +9 snack? I know it’s hard to wake up for it but it can really help.

i got the purina pro plan kitten listed on the food chart but perhaps it’s not totally accurate so I’ll cut it out and go back to her other for a bit.

she does get a bed snack. Maybe I’m confusing that with +9 ? Is that +9 after dinner?

It depends on the pro plan kitten you are using. Many of there line was just recently changed and carbs are much higher on some of the flavors. Wr use the same brand and it was a total upset in this house. Just spent 45 mins in pet store with carb calculator checking different flavors Friday. The kitten chicken and liver is somewhere between 0 and 2% as is the salmon and ocean fish. So good choice for LC. I say they are between 0 and 2% because if you only add the ash % its 2 if you add in the % if other minerals with ash its 0% The adult 7+ prime plus Turkey and giblets is 0%

All others are 5% and up from there

Hope that helps:bighug:

Oh wow! Ok… thanks for this info!!
Perhaps this is what is going on.
She has been eating the kitten ones you mentioned, but also the prime plus salmon and tuna entree. She doesn’t like any other prime plus. I think also I have pro plan focus kitten flakes ocean fish and tuna. That one wasn’t one you mention so it’s prob a higher one. I had no idea they were a different formula from a change recently.
I will definitely go back to her FF from before and see if that makes a difference!
Thank you again :)

A snack at +9 both cycles brings the bg down at amps and pmps.

I think I am confused on the +9 meaning :(
So it’s 9 hours after breakfast and then 9 hours after dinner, is this correct?
So she should have a snack at both is what you mean.
I am not doing that correctly I don’t think :(

Yes. Eating should bring down the bg in 3-4 hours. So if she eats 3 hours before breakfast and dinner and not again for 3 hours her ambg and her pmbg should drop and be green. You just want her to eat a teaspoon or two.

Ok yes, I wasn’t doing that correctly. That was my fault for misunderstanding :(

I would still need to pull the food up in the day 2-3 hours prior to testing correct?

I don’t mind to get up to test her. Anything that helps I am glad to do :)

Yes. It’s the same premise as testing the bg at amps and if blue feed, pull up food and test again in 3-4 hours. If the pancreas is preforming then bg comes down 3-4 hours after eating. So snack at +9 and no food until Ambg or pmbg.

i apologize for the confusion!
