2-12 Little Man AMPS 278/+2 187/+3 103/+4.5 74/PMPS 365

So pretty good indicator insulin hasnt gone bad...not that I thought it had.

He ate a little at +1 but not much. He is eating some LC now and acting fine. He has drank more water I noticed and he peed a lot over night. Just gonna keep an eye on it. I work Tuesday all day again leave right after I get a +2 gone till +8.5 (this is my new schedule and probably gonna stay this way). Sonif we need to increase I need to be strategic about the timing so I'm home to monitor since it took him so low before

Only Tuesdays?

He's coming down fast. Let's see what he does tonight and see if he needs an increase tomorrow.
Yes only tuesdays I told her once a week I was comfortable with leaving him unmonitored and giving a little more food...but more than that might defeat the purpose of getting him regulated. She agreed and appreciated it as no one else to work that particular shift. My regular days are always afternoon +6 to usually +10 or +11. So home to monitor first part of cycle

Ok he is at 74 at +4.5...I get one more check on him in an hour before I have to work.

Any food of other cats/dogs he could have gotten into? Any human high carb food?
Nope nothing. So we live with our mil and our cats dont have free roam of house during night or when we are gone...they stay in master bedroom we have no food in here other than their canned food...i have no dry anything and we have no dogs either...worst he could've snuck were purebites...and the food in feeder was kitten food that is 2% so even if he ate some of his sisters it's the exact same thing LC and not that much.

Ok another thought I did throw away a partial used can of what I thought was 9% that ended up being stupid high...taking back unopened cans for exchange. If he got into trash which could be possible but there was no mess like he had so if he did he was super stealthy about it

Possible. He is super carb sensitive and eating carbs after his nadir could have caused him to shoot up.

This dose is obviously bringing him down he is at 66 now +5.5 so I really hate to increase. Keeping an eye on him see if we can get things back down overall again

Possible to get some late cycle tests if you're at home so you can see where he goes before he hits PMPS?

I'm also wondering if something else is going on. If he hasn't had access to contraband, then he might not be feeling well. How's his poop? Eating well? I see that you noted that he puked up a hairball. Does he do that often?

He does have issues with hairballs...I think he has pica he wants to eat hair that I've brushed from him I have to hide it in trash can.

No contraband today at all...last night is a ? On the contraband.

I am home all day tomorrow and thought it would he good to check him later in cycle to see when he is on the rise...

I don't know/think that the hairballs have anything to do with his numbers, but what I do know is that puking hairballs isn't normal. People give powdered egg yolk from here or get egg yolk lecithin in capsules like these to add to food. Not only is the egg yolk nutritious but the fat in it helps move things along so that the hair comes out in poop rather than puke. :p My cats puked up hairballs on commercial wet food and especially when they were eating only dry. Since I put them on a raw food diet, they don't puke up hairballs anymore, which might have something to do with the fat that is in the meat that aids in moving the hair into the poop. Vomiting can be very stressful for a cat.

Thankyou for the info! He doesnt vomit hairballs very often in fact he tends to "cough" or clear his throat it clears and he is good.

I am still struggling with wrapping my brain around raw. I want to do but I think I will need to get a grinder. My civvie has only like 4 teeth left so cannot chew. She wants so badly to eat a purebite treat but I have to give her microscopic pieces as she just gums the bigger pieces and then leaves them.

I feel raw might alleviate all the issues I'm having with the canned food and his numbers them changing the formula and then becoming higher carbs etc..

I get ground boneless meat shipped to me, but if you have the time to do it, buying meat from the supermarket and grinding it yourself is the least expensive way of feeding a clowder. :) My civvie lost a bunch of teeth to an accident when she was younger, and she mostly licks and swallows her raw food. If you add EZ Complete to the food, it contains enzymes that break down the meat so that it's softer in texture and easier to chew and digest. I keep Weruva on hand for MC and HC. A lot of times I will top her raw with some Weruva when I need higher carbs.

I’d try an increase. You could try raw commercial food first and see if he will eat it. I like Small Batch if available where you live.
So it looks like I can get small batch...sort of. Hard to find and lots of freeze dried options not just raw frozen. Freeze dried ok for LM but maddie couldnt eat without the teeth. I also did a quick calculation of the raw and it looks to be 7% carb...might be too high for LM on a regular. May just have to bite bullet and order some EZ complete and get some raw ground meat or get a food processor.

I feed the frozen. Mocha gets Primal venison because of her allergies. I’m surprised it’s that high in carbs. I have thought about making my own but EZ contains chicken liver as does most vitamin mixes. I’d get the meat from the market if I did. I am lazy, lol.

I can get primal more easily than small batch I'll do a carb calculator on the primal.

I was surprised it was that high as well! Cost wise it would def be better for me to make. I would go to market for the meat as well. If I had to we have an excellent grocery chain here HEB that I could use for meat they have an actual butcher in store.

If primal isnt too high I may get a small bag just to see if they like it and will eat raw.

My biggest issue with not pulling trigger is how much to feed per day and how to portion that since LM gets meals spread out so thin. I've heard that they dont need as much raw is this true?

Depending on the protein an ounce is 36-60 calories. I feed my almost 9 pound cats 3-4 ounces a day. LM would need about 6 I think so it could easily be portioned. Making your own definitely will be a lot cheaper. I was just suggesting buying one of those first to see if he will eat it. I take it out of the freezer at night for the next day. Both come in one ounce pieces. So it’s easy to give a little each time you feed. Primal comes in little pieces as well. I forget what it’s called. It’s more expensive to buy but a small bag of that was how I started.

Thanks! I get paid wednesday so I'll get a small bag of primal and try out then move from there
