Hi,

I heard that using a Lantus Pen by withdrawing the insulin from the pen is safer. Now, what size syringe do I need to buy.

Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The syringes you need to buy are the U100 3/10 30 or 31 gauge 6 or 8 mm 1/2 unit syringes.
I see you live in Canada, so I’m not sure what brands you have there. @Wendy&Neko will be able to tell you.
Are you going to be hometesting the blood sugars?

I get BD Ultra-fine 3/10ml 31g 8mm at Walmart in Canada, they also sell, them at Rexall. They have half unit markings. They are behind the counter so just ask the pharmacist.

Ditto here, I have only used the BD Ultrafine II's. You can get them in a couple different needle lengths. The cheapest place I found them, oddly enough, was the Safeway pharmacy in BC. Canadian Superstore or Costco a close second. Do ask around.

I bought some BD Ultra-fine and what a difference in how easily they slide in compared to the Ulticare ones.

However, I don't know if I got a bad box or what but fine tuning to 1.5u is just impossible with them! It's crazy. It sticks at that spot so badly and that is exactly the dose I am trying to meter out. So I had to go back to the Ulticare syringes even though they don't slide in as easily
