What should I do?

Ok so Kloey has been bouncing. I woke this morning and BG was 305, I had to work today 10 hours and no one would be here with her. I was scared to give her full dose of 1.75. Looks like she might be coming off the bounce. So I gave her 1 unit and left lots of wet food. She ate maybe a can of Sheba and we left some of the higher carb 7 %and she ate some of that. So got home, +11 was 308. PMPS 340. She ate 1 portion Sheba and threw up a bit of it. But went back and finished the other half. I don't know what to give her tonight. Any advice?

I went ahead and gave her 1 unit. I will be gone for 10 hours again tomorrow. So I would rather her be high than go low.

I’m glad all went well for your first day back at work and Kloey was OK.
I’m not a vetsulin user but I’m sure it was ok to reduce the dose as you would be gone for the day. As you say, better to be a bit higher than too low.
As you get used to it all you will feel more confident to not reduce the dose when you work and you will have more data to look at as well.

I think that was ok, especially since that drop last night makes me wonder how low she went.

As an FYI, with Vetsulin imagine a straight downward trajectory towards nadir for planning tests (it doesn't quite actually work that way, but for safety's sake that's what I assume). So last night she dropped 40% in 2 hrs, then another 50% ish. I'd have gotten another test at +4.75 ish just to be safe.

Thanks for replying. So she has been on 1 unit for the past 2 days. I am off for the next week and will be home with her. She has been in the 200s - low 300s for the past 2 days on 1 unit. Although I have not tested during the day. I did wake at +8 last night and tested her and got 278. Not as large of jumps as she was having. Should I leave her on 1 unit or start increasing her dose slowly?

I suspect she needs an increase but I can't safely say that without midcycle tests (Vetsulin is too unpredictable). Her nadir is +3 to +5, so if your schedule is limited I would try to focus on grabbing those. Alternatively, a curve on a day off work

I will do a curve tomorrow. How often should I test?

Ok that 124 doesn't leave a ton of wiggle room, since we don't want them below 90. Especially with such a high preshot...

I would hold this dose until the next curve and see if she starts to come down overall. If you get a 250-300 preshot, I would give 0.5U. in the 200-249 range I would give 0.25U. that's probably overly cautious, but want to err on side of safety.

I would not shoot anything below 200 yet, not enough data. You can always stalk without feeding for 20-30 mins if that happens to see if she comes up, but then you will be off schedule.

So to clarify. Keep giving her the 1 unit until next curve. How long should I wait to do next curve?

Correct. We usually say once a week, but its whatever your schedule allows for.

If her preshots stay this high, I'd say once a week. But if they start coming down a bit, say lower than usual for about 4 cycles, I'd say a little sooner if you can manage it
