WOW! I'm jealous! When he goes surfing he stays surfing! Luci surfs and then slings the surboard aside for her high yellow nest...oh that girl!

Hope he keeps surfing the day away!

Have a great day!

He’s becoming quite the little surfer these days :) I see Luci got a reduction and tried to prove herself twice after!! Cheeky girl. She just likes to take a break and have some time on the beach with a shrimp cocktail and a side of catnip before she heads back out.. :p:smuggrin:

I caught wind on Facebook the other day someone mentioning to find you here to chat about hypertension and a treatment Luci went through Radio something (I went back to Luci’s 2021 SS and saw ’RadioCat’ and it reminded me)… I might be getting things crossed.

I’m just wondering because I ran into an issue last week where Gus all of a sudden had really hot/red ears and my first thought was food allergies (still is)… but Bhooma found some reading on hypertension that mentioned this as a symptom. It only lasted a few days and hasn’t come back but thought I’d ask if you had this come up at all. If I’m wrong about the hypertension, disregard ;)

Boy that's the truth! She's got her own mind about all of this stuff! I think she likes to throw a little drama in because I have a house guest - and she doesn't want me to go anywhere or ignore her in any way!:cat:

Not sure about the 'hypertension' thing, but she was diagnosed with hyperthyroid - hence the I-131 treatment she underwent in Jan 2021. She was losing weight, had diarrhea and didn't seem to be her usual self. I called the vet and he evaluated her and ran a blood panel and revealed her thyroid numbers were 14 - apparently that's quite high - so he suggested we try the Meta...? the thyroid cream to put on her ear - that didn't really seem to be doing much about her overall condition - so I opted for the I-131 treatment. She was hospitalized at "Radio-Cat" for three days - and for the following two weeks she was 'radioactive'. Just required special handling of her litter (flush only)...and not touching her for too long at any one time - I think it was limited to 45 minutes per day...She seemed to recover quickly and gained some weight. Now she's a fat aka fluffy healthy looking girl and gives me a run for the money every day!

The vet didn't mention anything about her blood pressure being elevated, but with thyroid issues I presume anything is possible.

Sounds like a crazy time. Happy to hear she’s recovered. I must admit I got a pretty funny visual thinking of you picking up radioactive poop with full biohazard gear and tongs… sorry - not something to laugh about. Must have been pretty tough to not touch her for long :bighug:

Guess I did get things mixed up, I knew it was a hyper something.. but it was thyroid not tension.

Hubs bought me a special pair of thick, heavy rubber gloves to scoop the litter box with. After two weeks everything was disposed of - including the heavy gloves - double wrapped plastic bags - they said the radioactivity would have diminished by then - but for the 14 days immediately following we just had to be a little extra careful with her waste - including if she puked - same deal - use paper towels and handle with gloves only. I had mental images of her 'glowing' in the dark...

She wasn't...it was just kinda something in my head...:joyful:

Lol… love how to had to mention ‘she wasn’t’ but honestly I thought of this too! Was tryna keep it light on the jokes ;) That sounds like quite the process though, bet your glad that’s all over.

Max was on medication for hypertension but his ears were never hot. Does your vet check for it every visit? It should be included in all exams after a certain age. I asked for a baseline with Mac and my vet and I were quite surprised he had high bp. That was before any other illness so primary.

Beautiful spreadsheet.

I don’t think it was checked at his last check-up or ever.. they would use a similar devices to humans? It’s been 6months since his diagnosis and last check up, I should have him checked out soon. I’ll bring that up.

63 @ +5 Gave a little HC but if he’s flat or higher next test will try out LC, I think.

So he has one red ear again.. i think, will know for sure in a few hours if it sticks around. I’m leaning much more towards his HC food being the problem or maybe syrup now… I’m going to track back and see if syrup was involved when it first started.

74 @ +9.

Didn’t feed/test at +8, he was passed out (it’s hard being a cat and getting woken up every hour :p) and I was pretty sure he was on his way up. So this is a non food influenced reading. Fed him some LC at +9

I think I’ll take a nap, if I can, until PMPS, working on limit sleep atm.

I see he's still at it. Nice but exhausting!

Can you believe it!? Holy moly!

I am indeed exhausted… still working on 2 hours sleep. Tried to sneak a nap in before PMPS but didn’t happen. He’s slowly creeping up now, but that doesn’t mean much atm, lol

Not gonna lie, I’m kinda hoping for a blue at +6… for sleep and ease of mind .. but even then the way he’s been lately a +9 wouldn’t hurt

Sorry I didn’t mean to send that first one! I was double checking before you responded again.. thought I got rid of it but I did not! Tooooo excited!!! This is the earliest in awhile I’m saying bye to you… it’s still your morning!!

LOL. Good night! He will probably bounce and give you a couple of days off from tomorrow. Unless he's flipped the switch, in which case, goodbye sleep!
