Yesterday

No overnight bounce woohoo!!

Last time we had a yellow AMPS we got down in the greens so we'll see what today brings!

@Suzanne & Darcy went out in the snowstorm yesterday and bought a One Touch Ultra and box of 50 strips. For how expensive the strips are two of them already error'd out on first day of use! I'm annoyed, I wanted to try this meter because of it's supposed ability to deal with very small droplets but so far -- nope.
 
+2 came in at 243 so gonna skip the +3 and do a +4 instead. No dive at +2 is awesome, hopefully he is gradually sliding into blues and/or even greens by nadir

Unfortunately his +2 of 243 gave no indication we were going to dive like that so...probably panic his liver, AGAIN. Arghh. We split the morning meal as usual, gave MC snacks every hour to slow things down too. Dammit. Gave another MC (10%) snack just now


he usually goes up from +4 but of course we will check again at +5, or even 4.5...

Just got a new lantus pen yesterday too, this morning was first dose from it. Makes me wonder

Whoa huge drop! Probably not the pen itself...just his body figuring out how to use the insulin. Make sure you get another check in an hour. He will most definitely bounce from that so be prepared for that

based on what we know so far he will almost certainly be higher at +5 but yeah -- definitely going to check. Maybe even a bit sooner

and yeah at this point I know the bounce is coming. Every time he has hit a new low he has bounced so far.

Hi if you are going to be using a human meter from now on you have to change the color coding for the last 2 columns up top, take a look at my SS and you will see what I mean, I don't know if you can do it yourself, if not let me know and I will tag bandits mom to do it for you
Human meters tend to read lower than a pet meter like the AlphaTrak. That is why in this forum we say the normal range on a pet meter is 50-120.....on a pet meter while it is 68-150.
On a human meter, 50 is your “take action” number compared to 68 on the AT2.
Meaning you will need to intervene with food to bring the BG number up

i just dont understand why he took such a dive though we had split the meal and gave MC snacks and still. Its a little unusual. We had been doing this for a while now and thought we had the right combination of food and timing pretty much figured out, to prevent such a dive

ah ty I missed that difference, makes sense of course. I changed the conditional formatting, all set I think.
 
god $%^&* dammit I screwed up a BG test and went right through his ear and out the other side, he was in so much pain he vomited immediately ffs

wow that was super traumatic how do I ever do another test

the one touch ultra keeps erroring out even when it's a medium droplet. I think I hate this thing. The cheapo CareSens could handle smaller droplets

Sometimes it just happens. My LM is really good at diving.
 
switching back to the AT2 until we get more strips for the CareSens on Monday, this ultra touch 2 is garbage imo. Also ordered a One Drop to try out, supposedly very small droplet required

75!! Didn't someone just threaten him with a dose increase too? Lol always works.

I am following far too many cats lately so sorry if I'm repeating - I think I mentioned a few days ago the +2 isn't a reliable indicator for him, and that +2.5/+3 might be better for you.

Mr kitty was never super predictable. My son is about to be a year old, I very clearly remember my husband thundering upstairs in the middle of the night and throwing the door open "HES 38!!!" Well, thanks. Now I have a crying baby AND a hypoglycemic cat :rolleyes: 102 to 38 in 3 hours

Re: dose increase -- we did, few days ago, to 1.5u. Today was day five. And on 1.5 he has nadir'd under 100 twice, 200 once, but mostly between 2 and 300. So....I have no idea

I've read this over and over but I'm still not sure what to do:

Most cats need to have their dose increased. Do it in 0.25 IU or 0.5 IU steps (0.25 IU if the cat is getting a low dose and/or relatively low BGs, 0.5 IU if the cat is getting a higher dose and/or relatively high BGs). Hold each dose for 5-7 days. However, if the cat is producing continuously high BGs (nadir always >=300 mg/dl), only hold the dose for 2-3 days before increasing it by 0.5 IU. Alternatively, if the cat is continuously producing moderately elevated BGs (nadir always >=200 mg/dl), increase the dose every 2-3 days by 0.25 IU ( if the cat is getting a low dose) or 0.5 IU (if the cat is getting a higher dose). From this point onward test for ketones once per week, or more often if the nadirs are still >=200 mg/dl.

I just meant when we threaten an increase they usually see green.

I don't think you have room for an increase, but see what others think.
 
Hit up Walmart and grab an Relion premier...there are many diff ones. these strips are only 17.88 for 100 of em. many of us using this one cause so cheap. u need about a med size drop of blood with these.
if u get the yellow compact one, it doesnt keep date and time, but holds last 8 tests (what i have) and u get the meter and 50 strips for like 20 bucks
