02/01 Eddie: AMPS 272 +3 184 PMPS 319 +2 382 (Stress day @ vet for Eddie)

We'll take yellows and blues! Looks like he didn't bounce from yesterday/last night which is fantastic. Good luck with vet!

Well, @PMPS 319 isn't so bad after the day Eddie had at the vet. To begin he really wasn't impressed with the cat carrier so as soon I put him in there he decided to release his bladder and then before we got to the vet, his bowels.

He has a difficult history with vets as you know. Anyway, they were able to get the blood panel, etc. but I had to leave him there so they get pee from him as he had already released his bladder. So he had to be at the vet's for nearly 3 hours before I brought him home, so a little higher on the BG is to be expected.

I'm going to give him more food @ +2 as I did last night and, as a matter of fact, gave him some food at +8.

I had woken up feeling awful and not sleeping well because I got the booster vaxx and all day have felt relatively awful, tbh. Although I'm a iittle better now, I had a headache that hard's to get rid of ...

I am sorry you're not feeling well! Poor Eddie and vet visit but at least it's over now! It's nice to see some blues and yellows though finally! Hopefully you can get some rest tonight:bighug:

Try the pillowcase method and see if it helps with moving into the carrier. I put some treats down, scoop him in the pillowcase. Hold him like a bag of potatoes and lower him in the carrier. It's quick, no fighting to get in and it has cut the stress way down which means no peeing on me :) It was a game changer for vet visits.

I do similar, I wrap in a towel. Doesn't stop the peeing and pooping the carrier and all over the exam room though

When will bloodwork be back?

Tubby peed and pooped in the carrier on the way to the vet too. Every. Single. Time. He’d do the same during all tests as well—exams, ultrasound, CT, SRT, you name it. I can’t tell you how many times we had to do a quick bath at the clinic before his appointment to clean him up (and sometimes a second time before heading home). I finally started putting baby diapers on him for the trip with a hole cut for the tail. It didn’t prevent him from “downloading” but it certainly kept the mess contained and made cleanup soooo much easier. Woe be the techs who dismissed my warning to leave the diaper on … I heard that Tubby’s ability to projectile poop was Olympic caliber.

Oh, actually, it is not hard to put him in the carrier. I just hold him and put him bum end first. It seems if they don't know where that end is going it's ok! He just did the whole thing once he was in the carrier already!!
Olympic calibre projectile! LOL!

By the time we got there, the deed was done. They were very gracious to clean him and to put a new towel in the carrier for the ride home, which was uneventful...:cat:
Blood work should be done by the end of this week or beginning of next; ditto for the urinalysis.

Just did a PM +2 and he's high 382. I still gave him some food in anticipation of a drop. I pretty pooched here with the vaccine headache. This too shall pass.

Gotcha, hopefully sooner vs next week.

I actually switched to puppy pee pads in the carrier (and car seat...also projectile over here). I don't exactly like the extra waste but I'm a bit weird about washing the whole family's laundry in the same washer as cat poop/pee, so I'd end up running a disinfecting cycle anyway and probably evens out

Oh, I hear you on this! Fred is the same, and just did so last Friday when I brought him to the vet. You should see what I do to my car to protect it...I call it "hazmating" the car. I've got pee pads taped up for when he decides to pee straight out the front, a huge plastic garbage bag over the seat, then covered in an old towel, pee pads on the floor, a pee pad in his carrier.... the list goes on. ;-) Fred also pants like a dog and gets completely car sick, poor boy.

For longer trips, (95 min is his max) I give him 100mg of gabapentin to calm him. It helps a bit-at least it tends to avoid anything terribly projectile!

Good luck with the results, and feel better!

"Hazmating"!! That's fantastic! TBH, Eddie is usually pretty good in the car. The tsunami of urination came in the house, just as I put him in the carrier. The rest came later. Nothing on the way back, as I said. I think maybe I had caught him up before he had made his regular visit to the kitty-box. But, wow, did all that ever "enhance" my day.
