I had one fitted to Misty today. I downloaded the app. It said to wait 60 minutes before the sensor was ready. I did that. I tried to scan her and it said something like reaffix it or check it and rescan, but now I have to wait another 60 mins. Does that mean it isn’t going to work?
The nurse at the vet clinic that applied it said they didn’t have the libre app on the clinic phone to check the reading (this was when I was frantically trying to find a reader or phone to download the app). Thanks in advance.

Usually you scan the libre after it is applied and it asks you if you would like to start it. You then scan again, this starts the 60 minute time for start up. After 60 minutes you will be able to scan for results. Sometimes, you do get error messages, such as "wait 10 minute sand start again" or "could not scan". Waiting the 10 minutes and scanning again usually works.

I posted on fb and someone said that sometimes happens. She said she rescans and it’s ok. Let’s hope that works.

I boiled some chicken and she ate it. She’s still a bit groggy so I was able to do an ear prick. She’s 19.7. She was 22 at the vet. I have no idea what time that was. Maybe give her 1u tonight or skip. I need to sit down and do the spreadsheet. Should I start a new post asking for dose advice? Im sorry I don’t have capacity to find the rules of what I should be doing here. I’m doing things on the run.

I think they like you to post daily in the Lantus/ glargine forum, but don't worry they are a good lot here. If you are unsure of anything and suspect a hypo then put 911 in the topic , post in the Lantus forum and someone will advise you. My cat Benny had a symptomatic hypo while he was in the ICU. He also had one at home and I mixed glucose with water and fed by syringe. I know how you feel. Try not to worry about the high numbers. They only matter if they continue for days. The hypos on the other hand are dangerous and the Libre will make things easier once you get the hang of it. You can buy a reader as well as using an app. I got one for $85. The Vet told me to use the app but I like having a back up for when I am not at home and someone else can check with it.

No stay with this thread. I’m talking to someone about the dose and will get back to you.
Do you think she will eat more tonight for you?
And will you be able to monitor her BG tonight if needed?
Bhooma has answered you on the other thread and will help you with the SS

Stay with the main forum for now Rowena and once we have you all set up and sorted we will send you over to the Lantus page where there are lots of people to help you but they like you to be sorted out before you go there.

@rowena Bhooma and I have talked and we think it would be best to start with 0.5 units of Lantus and to see how Misty goes with that dose over a couple of days.
Of course if the BG drops too low, we will have to reduce, but often cats who have had symptomatic hypos can be very sensitive to insulin moving forward.
How does that sound to you?

Here is your last thread for continuity https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/recovery-from-hypo.258635/
