01/31 Eddie AMPS 448 +3 283 +5 187 PMPS 257 +2 211

And don't forget your patience pants.:bighug::bighug: Let's see what this dose can do with a full depot. Hopefully the vetty visit/blood work will give you an idea if there is another cause of these numbers. Ask the vet to take a peak in his mouth too, to see if it's an infection causing him to be off. Other than Eddie's numbers, is he otherwise acting normal?

He's doing some really steep dives at the beginning of some cycles, like today. As I said, I found those bounces worse than the ones from lower numbers. Anything you can do to slow the dives, like fresh carbs on board before onset, might help.

Eddie is acting perfectly normal; that is, as normal as he's been for months after all the acro procedures. He looks just fine, tbh. Comes when I call him for a treat (read "BG test"), has a great appetite; is not drinking excessively, purrs on his own, is alert, etc.

Re: slow the dives, are you suggesting giving some fresh carbs at breakfast or soon thereafter, like +2? Have to work this out as I'm going back to in person classes after Feb 7th.

You have a week to experiment, but yes, I'd try saving part of his regular breakfast/dinner and feeding at +2 to see if it makes a difference.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Just to be clear: he is fed 4x daily.
AMPS is around 830 am and he gets "lunch" around 11:30, just after I do a +3. Then he gets dinner around +8.5 and a snack @PMPS around 8:30pm).

Ahh, that explains why his PMPS is often higher than the AMPS for Eddie. With a lot of cats it's the other way around. If you feed quite a bit of food after nadir, that shortens duration and causes the insulin effect to wear off earlier and give you a higher preshot. And a higher preshot can mean a bigger drop at onset. The lack food after PMPS explains why you are often seeing bigger drops in the PM cycle vs the AM cycle. Any chance you could change the portion of food at dinner to be less, and give him a snack/small meal at PM+2? With cats that like to dive, feeding some carbs/small meal 20-30 minutes before onset can slow down the dive.

Neko also insisted on a +9ish meal during the day, that was historically her early dinner time too. So I reduced the volume and tried to give her as low a carb as possible at that time. I did luck out when I went to Levemir, because then her nadir was later and so I could feed later in the cycle. You current feeding schedule during the day would be perfect if on Levemir.

Would this ^^ mean giving him 5 meals/ day? He has been getting food @PMPS and so what you're saying is to give PMPS food with insulin and then @+2 give a little more before bed???

I'd try to break up his food so he's getting an even amount of food in the AM and the PM. Several smaller meals is easier on his hard working pancreas. And yes, this does mean a bit more food at +2 before you go to bed. I stayed up until +3.5-+4, and fed Neko then and around +2. Timing tweaked a bit depending when she was on Lantus vs. Levemir.

Ok, thank you. I will give food @+2 starting tonight and then see how I can manage daytime hours given I’ll be heading back to in person work after the 7th. I think I can organize things, though.
Eddie sees the vet tomorrow for the blood panel, etc, so hopefully I’ll have a better sense soon of where he’s at.

Ok, so PM +2 211. Following Wendy's suggestion, I've given a couple tsp food (LC, but still) with the aim of taking some of load off his pancreas.
