Answer to ur Q, he began NOT covering when i got Maggie. He went thru a TON of stress and sick when she arrived and had 5 babies that fostered for 12 weeks (then we kept mama.)

He was placed on an antidepressant (which i promptly took him off cuz he got worse)
Ever since that whole ordeal, after he began getting used to Maggie being around, he began losing weight and then it was clear there was something else and it was diabetes...so even when he is feeling great and playing now...he still wont cover it. I think its his way of getting back at me for letting Maggie in and have those babies who took over his bedroom...u know how they get vindictive!!!

i thot u meant to feed 4%, so i did that then i saw msg, i gave him just about 1/4 tsp of 14% to get it to a higher %. i think that he will b ok with that. ill test at +3.25?? that is in 35 min
 
Hello, i know everyone is busy with very very sik kitties. He just did a 78 for +2. I believe he will go down from here and i just gave him 1 FFBreakaway 6.5% after poke
I am trying hard to make decisions without constantly having to bug you ladies!
My thot is MC cuz its so early in cycle?
 
If he isnt that carb sensitive maybe a tsp of mc...but he started low blue so the +2 is looking really good. Wasnt a steep dive at all. Now I know Ares is a later nadir cat...but dont carb him up too much

Np as he gets more adjusted I think he will level and stop the steep dives...LM seems to be leveling off...

Now I do feed a mix of LC with 9% to make a tsp like a qtr to 3qtrs and feed at +1 to help with what I call the +2 plummet...it seems to help a lot with the steep dives

You aren't bugging us. But yes, when you see big drops early in the cycle, sometimes you need to feed higher carbs to slow them down. It's better to feed higher carbs earlier in the cycle when the insulin action is strongest. That helps prevent diving which in turn reduces the bouncing. Feed carbs later in the cycle could reduce duration.

He is settling into this dose pretty well. :-)

he really is! unbelievable, he took the threat and has run with it!
when i mean not to bug...i know you guys are awesome, i have been reading thru the trauma that is the main chat, and there is so much going on there!!
i mean i need to learn and not depend on you soooo much. i should have learned a ton of this by now, and i really think i am getting it except for some of the intricates...
i just fed him small 14%, i keep thinking his nadir is nearer to +5 thru +7, so when i get him lower at +2 and +3 here, i overcompensate?
i want him green as long as possible!

Did you feed 14% at +4 or did you mean +2? He is a late nadir cat and I won't be surprised if he is headed for another reduction.

Try feeding higher carbs earlier in the cycle (say till +3) and reduce the carbs after that. A lot of it is trial and error. There are no hard and fast rules. It all depends on your cat and the cycle.

Tested him at +5 =88, definitely only LC now for night.
and he seems to have moved past the hard part.

Im getting comfy in bed, so he is too....and his civie sis, i just tested her too!!


Maggie got tested for 3 reasons:
1...I wanted to see what her number was after eating
2...She always wants treats when Ares gets one after poke and wonders Y she doesn't get one (although of course she does some of the time)
3...she has no idea what Ares goes thru so many times a day and i just wanted her to try and possibly be sympathetic (cats dont do that much) but maybe now she will understand a Teensy tiny bit
I thot it was ok...1 poke isnt guna kill her but she DIDN'T LIKE IT!

Yup. Looks like the MC gave him a good bump. If you wake up later, get a +6 or +7

What was Maggie's BG? My civvie is impossible to test or shoot. She acts like we are harpooning her and will rip our faces off!

Haha, they just dont know! Lol
Magg was 83 and looked at me like i did the most Horrid thing ever...oh my gosh. I got jer when she was laying and relaxing...haa:)

How bout this, i just woke up 1 hour too early and took ares AMPS...oops! His fake amps is 177...guess that wud be the first +11 ive ever gotten...:joyful:
