Hi Paige, sorry to give you this sad news, but momentary drops into numbers below 100 don't mean remission. We usually want cats to be in numbers between 50 and 80 for at least a week to consider remission. Here is a spreadsheet of a cat who went off insulin recently (Comet) so you can see his numbers: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...6yIPSY39d_VFxn1rq2hmfl-YE/edit#gid=1182885903

I thought it was odd for her to say that, but I'll send over the data for her to look at.

The criteria for remission is that the cat is able to stay in normal numbers (50-100 mg/dl) for 2 weeks without any insulin.

Like you can see in the spreadsheet Katherine shared, cats that go into remission go down in dose (some sooner than others) to as little as a drop of insulin and eventually off it. The longer a cat spends time in green, the greater the chances of the pancreas healing and being able to produce their own insulin.

I see the 158 @+4.5 on your SS.
He is breaking a bounce so it could be a later nadir. Could you take a nap and test at +6.5 or +7?

How long until you think he will be in the clear? Should I reduce dose tomorrow?
He would need to drop below 50 to earn a reduction.

Ideally you want to make sure he stays in safe numbers 2 hours after the HC/syrup. Sometimes the numbers can drop once the carbs are out of the system.

How long is it since he ate the HC/syrup? That was soon after the +5.5, right?

Yes, at +5.5 when he hit 56. But he would have gone below 50 without feeding....that doesn't count??

The thing is that reductions earned in bounce clearing cycles sometimes don't hold. There is because there is additional downward momentum and you typically want to feed to avoid drops.
It's possible that Wesson will hold if you reduce from tomorrow. You could try it and see.

I did feed to try and slow it down, but it didn't slow it down. If I do try, do I reduce to 1.75 or 1.5?
