Are you testing every 15-20 mins?

ETA: I thought you were, but I guess you got a test at +3.5 and another @+4.4 (which is how many minutes before +4.5?)

i was kinda trying to do every 30 since it wasnt like 50 low...
You can test every hour when they are in the high 60s and above.

66 @ +5, should i feed him anything? he is trying to nap now and i just gave him a rude awakenin with that poke, lol
Feed a little 10-12% if you have any so you can take a pokie break for a couple of hours. How long is it since you fed the 14%? An hour?

i feed him during day almost every hour at first, then he begins to go for 1.5 to 2 hrs before he gets hungry again. so i start at 8am, then 9, 10, then like 1130 and 1, and then basically when he asks for food after that. his normal food now is FF pate 2-3%'s and he only gets 1/4 can per feeding...unless i think he needs more. i have to get him up to 285c so i have alot of reign with it
(his civie sis Maggie is wanting food now all the time like him, so i giv her just a bit less, she is allowd 240c per day cuz she is a very active hunter, brings lots of animals home, and spends a ton of time outside.)
And now that you helped me figure out the auto feeder, i have it set to usually midnight, and 530am (closes at 545)...and i try n test around 230or 330am and giv him food then, so during night he gets every few hours

i know, and i totally expected it...maybe his dose is like a fat 2.25, which is so freakin hard to get right cuz even the .25 is hard to see!
Yup, when a cat isn't holding reductions and toggling between 2 doses, you have 2 options:
  • Do a skinny increase/decrease - which would be hard to do without callipers
  • Follow the rule for cats that don't hold reductions. That is, a reduction is earned when he drops bewteen 40 and 50 on 3 separate days (not cycles).
I don't think Ares is there yet. If he earns a reduction again, we just give him longer on 2.25U and see if he settles into it.

This reminds me of a convo i had w another member, how is it possible to go from .75 to .05? And how could anyone possibly dose that? I actually thot that she had the dose written wrong, but was assured it was correct...how?

Didn't understand your question. Did someone reduce the dose from 0.75U to 0.05U? We usually change doses in multiples of 0.25U.

This sticky has pics on fine doses - Insulin Care & Syringe Info: Proper Handling, Drawing, Fine Dosing
Eyeballing small doses is difficult. Callipers make it easy. Some people count drops - basically you draw out 0.5U or 1U and try and squeeze it out as equal sized drops and see how many drops in 1U. It takes a lot of practise and is not very accurate. I couldn't do it.
