12/25/21 Wally AMPS=408,+3=391,+6=401,PMPS=332,+2=342,+8.25=281

Usually decreasing the dose without the cat earning a reduction just causes higher numbers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Merry Christmas!
I know. I just wondered if decreasing down to 1 or a fat 1 unit might even out his numbers as it appears that he can't handle going into the greens without bouncing, like today. I thought a slightly lower dose might keep him from going that low....

You could try, but I think he'll end up with higher numbers overall. Have you ever tried feeding to slow the drop and keep him from going so low?

I don't give dosing advice because I'm no expert, but I do think his liver just needs to quit freaking out with the green numbers, it just isn't used to them yet. It takes time and patience, you're doing a good job! @Wendy&Neko and others used to always say we have to put on our Green Patience Pants, diabetes is a marathon not a spring. :bighug:

I give him some FF or a couple of pieces of Young Again Zero Carb after every test...

Wally needs an increase, not a decrease. Too much red and pink on his SS. That is, if you following TR. TR says we hold doses with green nadirs for 10 cycles and it’s been longer than that.

Every time I've increased to 1.5 he crashes within a few days and earns a reduction back to 1.25. That's why I'm hesitant to increase. Let's see what his number is AMPS and I'll take it from there.

As a long term diabetic, and following TR, Wally earns a reduction by going under 40. Alternatively, since he doesn’t seem to be holding reductions well, you could try the reduction method of three times between 40 and 49 on different days, or once under 40. He needs to spend more time in green to get used to it. It is also a long time since he was last on 1.5 units. What he did then vs. Now may be different.

I upped to 1.5 units and he already has gone down to 45 today, like clock-work. Feeding him snacks of his usual FF has gradually brought him back into the blues, but it could be a long night, based on his PMPS and before bed readings.

Next time you see a big dive to +2 or +3, you might want to give him some medium carb food to see if you can slow the dives a bit and get him to spend more time in safe green.

He's very carb sensitive. I've learned that when I've given him med carb food, he bounces like crazy. Since he wasn't showing any signs of hypo, other than being hungry, I opted to stay with his usual FF.
