Good morning. I'm wondering if anyone else's cats that have been on FF Classic Pates (Chicken & Chicken & Liver) have recently developed loose stool / diarrhea? If so, have you found an alternative food that's worked for you? I suspect with the supply shortage that the ingredients have changed and are affecting my cats digestive tract. He seems fine otherwise with eating, playing etc...just his trips to his litter box are messy and not solid. Any input from this knowledgeable group would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff and Oliver.

There does seem to be a problem with Fancy Feast. The only flavour my cat still eats is the flaked trout. The rest he won't. I am lucky though in Canada there is a store brand knock off that has the same flavours and are fine, it is called Lovibles and sold by Pet Valu, I am not sure if they ship to or are available in the US.

Someone in another post was looking into Sheba Pate. The pates are 3% carbs, not sure how the flavours compare to FF.

Same story in my house!

Is the label different? If so it’s changed. Call Purina and ask.
Hey tiffmaxee, Thanks for your suggestion. Actually looking at the labels to compare ingredients was the first thing I checked. Then product ID numbers by bar code along with case lot numbers. I also have sent an email to Purina with all the above info.
Had a conversation with my vet and as they pointed out even though the ingredients are listed the same the mixture or amount of an ingredient that he is sensitive to may have changed. Or the product ingredient vendor they are sourcing for the food has possibly changed. So I've done some further investigation and decided to isolate the two types of FF Classic pate he eats. Turns out all is fine if he eats only the "chicken" feast and his stool is solid. As soon as I gave him the "tender liver and chicken" the soft stool / diarrhea returned. This is a flavor he has eaten for 2 plus years without issue so it seems there has to be some reason. I have sent the updated info to Purina and ordered another case thinking maybe its just a bad case that got through. Oliver seems fine otherwise so I'll despite his protest just give him the chicken feast for now. I'll keep the post updated as to any info I find. Again thanks for your response/suggestion!

Wow! Thanks for doing the legwork! So great! Yeah i thought it was strange that my guy went from loving it to nogo in a matter of a day
No problem on doing leg work. But do be cautious about other issues that may be causing Lando's lack of interest in food. Especially with diabetic cats! Not eating for a day should warrant a vet visit for a diabetic cat! Is he eating other food and just off the FF or?

Yes thanks for your concern Jeff. Lando has been on a big rollercoaster with pancreatitis as well as other issues. I had to assist syringe feed him for a little while. He finally landed on Dr Elseys dry and sheba. After a lot of time on cerenia and some time with miritaz i may have created some food aversions. Of maybe hes just living up to his nickname “ lando demando “. I forgot to add he is doing amazingly well right now he is his ol self again!!!

I've been going back and forth with Purina trying to figure out what's going on and the more questions I ask the more evasive the reps become. Magic is becoming really hit-n-miss with the Fancy Feast. Some cans he loves, others he will turn down on-sight, and others he'll eat a little bit and then stop like it's making him nauseous or something. As a test, last night I tried feeding him Fancy Feast Turkey and Giblets. It was the first flavor from them that he liked and was by-far the one he's most likely to eat. After a couple bites he turned away acting like it was making him sick.

I switched it out to Sheba Roasted Chicken Pate and he ate the whole bowl in about five minutes.

SOMETHING is definitely going on with Fancy Feast. I'm going to try calling them today and see if I can get to someone in management and not the typical CS drones.
