Well, one year ago today, I learned Fred was diabetic. What a year it has been!

I first want to say thank you to this board and its administrators-I really believe that if I had not had the resources, help, and advice I found here, Fred would no longer be with us. Plus, there were so many moments in which I had nowhere to turn...to vent, to commiserate.. except this board and the lovely people I have "met".... @Suzanne & Darcy, @Liz & Minnie, @Summer and Susie (GA), @NyCatMom, @Butters & Lyla,..forgive me if I'm leaving anyone out...there have been so many. And to the leaders of the pack... @Wendy&Neko, @Bron and Sheba (GA), @tiffmaxee...again, forgive me if I'm overlooking anyone.

As for Fred, well, he's still up to his old tricks, but we have a basic rhythm now, that works for most days and for the most part. I am still up to my old tricks as well, with my "custom dosing" (that's probably putting it nicely) and fear of low numbers. Fred still loves to bounce and pulls fast ones on me just enough to keep me on my toes and always a little afraid. I always worry about the overnight cycle. Vacation dosing...forget it! My pet sitters used to think I was nuts to test before every shot. Now they get why. ;-) But overall, knock on everything, Fred has been happy and good, and we were actually doing REALLY well (by probably no one's standards but mine!) until right before Thanksgiving when we had what we believe was a pancreatitis flare. Strangely, his labs came back bizarrely great, (his fPLI was the lowest it's been since diagnosis) but we will take it...we'll take anything good! Fortunately, we're turning the corner on that, and just about back to normal. Fred is now happily snoozing under the Christmas tree, and I am so grateful.

So that's our update! Though I don't post too often anymore, I do try and drop in to see how everyone is doing.

I wish you and your cats peace and health for this holiday season...thanks for being here! :bighug::cat:

Hi. I am glad Fred is doing well thanks to your good care. Strangely enough sometimes a pancreatitis flare actually help with the fd though I have no clue why. It makes no sense. Let us know how he's doing every once in awhile and we are here is you need any help or an ear to listen. You have learned how to manage his fd which is wonderful! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.:bighug:

Kathleen! Hello! I miss you! I am so glad to hear that you and Fred are doing well. I know how much you love him! You are very dedicated to Fred. I’m happy that he has recovered from the panc flare. Let us know how you are a little more often (but I do understand!). I wish you very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year!

Happy to hear your news Kathleen! Tiger also "celebrated" his one year anniversary as a FD this month!
Fred is so beautiful! We now have a little gray (russian blue) kitty-Ray. She is 7 months old already! Found her in the bushes!
Happy holidays!:bighug:
