At some point since returning from the vet, Bama was bathing profusely so I was not surprised to find a couple hairballs overnight. Obviously hair and some liquid but not the excess water or food like there was a few days ago. He ate well this morning, although he was a bit picky about his FF since I added some water and Miralax. Thought he was overdue for a poop, hence the Miralax. But poop arrived since breakfast. I guess it can't hurt to have a little extra help from Ms. Mira. I didn't put a full dose which I understand to be about 1/16t. Had to flavor things up with Fortiflora so he would finish up. Also added kibble.

Glad to see we're back in the blue. I moved the time for Ondansetron ear-creaming to just after AMPS. Plan to pill-shoot Famotidine 30 min to an hour before his morning snack. Since he has crept back into the blues, I want to give him time to drop a little more before feeding to, maybe, keep him blue. So haven't determined exactly when morning snack should be. Likely +5 or +6. Plan to sub-q around +8.5. Still working out the phosphate binder. If I get proficient with the pill shooter, it may be worth dumping some into a capsule and shooting just after he has eaten his pre-shot meals. Or least, eaten the bulk of the meal. Probably still need a food chaser to kick that capsule completely down the hatch. Plan to shoot the Ondansetron oral this afternoon 1/2 hour or so before pre-shot.

Are the Oral Ondansetrom and Famotidine pills or a capsule? If they are pills, can you shoot the pill directly into his mouth rather than putting them into a gel cap? They might be smaller, right?
You could also wrap them in cheese or butter if he likes either.

Exactly. It was a pain in the neck but sometimes - as I said last night - I just had to put the aluminum hydroxide binder into gelcaps(problem is that it took more than one). Funny the cats didn’t mind the Epakitin too much - it’s supposed to be chicken or chicken liver flavored- but Bama obviously has a discerning palate. Also, his appetite is diminished by his BUN for the time being - so hopefully that will improve. Thinking about you and Bama today/tonight!

These are pills but so tiny they may not fit properly in the pill shooter. The pill shooter is working but it makes a screeching sound when operated and water gets spilled everywhere. A different problem I've been having lately is getting his blood to bead up properly when I prick his ear. I think the transdermal gel is affecting it somehow although it goes in the inner side of the ear flap. I alternate ears when applying the gel and use the other ear for testing. I have tried cleaning with warm water applied to cotton ball but it hasn't helped. Any ideas?
