I didn’t see the last note from yesterday until now. I didn’t hold for 6 cycles. It seems like he’s trending back up into those toxic numbers so I may have taken it down too much on 9 units. I will monitor him on 9.5 units. I might be wrong but I felt like he was just going to keep climbing like he always does with not enough insulin. It’s just hard to look at him when these numbers make him feel so bad.

It's possible he is just bouncing rather than it being a failed reduction . It's hard to see those pinks and reds after a lovely streak of blues and greens! :(

Let's see what he does on 9.5U! :-)

I’m sorry I didn’t see your note Bhooma. I was just looking back and found it, but he’d already had his dose this morning. My heart was breaking because he looks so poorly this morning. I understand what you are saying. I will make sure to monitor him well.

@Bandit's Mom you were probably right. He’s down to 217. He is acting and feeling better but I know he really dips at +5. It may have been unnecessary but I fed him a little bit of MC to slow the drop down some. I hope that wasn’t wrong. I have no idea what I’m doing today obviously. Should I just go back to the 9 units tonight or just see what happens?

He does tend to dive at +5 so the MC may have been a good idea. What% carbs is it?

We don't know if he is responding to the increase in the first cycle itself - in addition to seeing some downward momentum from clearing the bounce.

Changing the dose too frequently can confuse the depot and you don't know which dose is working. Let's wait for him to earn a reduction to go back to 9U.

It was 15%. I am seeing what you are saying. I shouldn’t have increased. I’ve had a lot going on yesterday and this morning so I just am not thinking clearly today. @Bandit's Mom

Thanks I just feel bad about it. He wasn’t feeling good with the numbers so high, and I was overwhelmed with stuff so I just did it without thinking it through. Thanks for understanding.

Max has stayed in the blues all afternoon. I’ve had to keep feeding all day though. I realize I shouldn’t have increased yet and understand why. I think I’m going to be afraid to give him the 9.5 tonight if he stays as low as he is though. I know @Bandit's Mom told me why we can’t change doses because of the depot. I do understand. Is he going to be okay getting the 9.5 tonight though? Now I’m afraid he will go too low without all the feeding through the night. I apologize for my ignorance today. I’ve definitely learned from it. Please help. @Wendy&Neko @FrostD @tiffmaxee

Lori, I hope you hear from an expert soon. If you are this worried, and I see why you are, I would stay at the 9 units. I know I am not supposed to advise but Max is your kitty, you hold the syringe, and you are worried. Plus, night time is harder to monitor when we need our sleep. Did you ever find a HC food that Max would eat?

One dose of the 9.5 shouldn't affect things too heavily. I guess I have a different opinion than Bhooma...I'd go back to 9U tonight since youre worried about the feeding and had to use medium carb today. He was in completely safe numbers today, but I do think he'd go lower with a few more 9.5U doses.

So I guess what I'm saying is up to you lol

I might be wrong but I felt like he was just going to keep climbing like he always does with not enough insulin.
What he did before SRT and after SRT will likely be different. Patience is key. You learn to sit on your hands if you see a cycle or two of ugly numbers and wait for him to come back down.

Tell me what your next couple of days are like, how you are feeling? In other words, your ability to monitor safely.

@FrostD Thanks Melissa. I am worried. I know I shouldn't have done that but Max gets so sick when he gets stuck in those 400's and I was afraid that was going to happen. My husband feels like he's getting sick and was exposed to COVID so we had to deal with that. We've both been vaccinated but so many are still getting sick despite that. I've just been a mess last night and today. I know I sound like a crazy woman. Thank you so much for responding.

@Wendy&Neko yes I do understand. My husband is sick and was exposed to COVID so we've had to deal with that as I said and I'm stressed out, but I will do whatever is the best thing for Max. I don't trust my own judgement these days, so I wanted your opinion. I do need to sleep. What do you think?

Go to 9 units, give yourself permission to take care of you first. :bighug: Last night, Max did start to come down on his own. As Bhooma said last night, hold the dose 6 cycles and go from there.

Paws crossed hubby will be OK. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
