Is everything okay? All I see is an amps today and your don’t have a condo today.
@tiffmaxee Everything is okay - I've just been feeling really overwhelmed and worried about Callie since her last asthma attack so I checked out of everything a little yesterday. SS is updated now. Trying to get it together again today
Sorry to cause concern. I really appreciate you all looking out for us -- more than you know. :bighug:

Nadirs move. If Max was ever giving me a lower green cycle I would see that he would stay up for two hours without food. Then if still green I’d feed a teaspoon of lc and go to bed.

This is helpful because I am always second-guessing myself about when it is okay to go to bed. Thanks.

Glad to hear all is okay. We were worried to see no SS updates. How is she doing on the asthma front?
I see you are still carbing her at +2 or so. I don't think she needs that on this dose...thus far... might be cutting short duration and taking her to blues in the second half of the cycle.

I know just how you feel. Her SS is a work of art, though, to those of us still working toward green.
Thanks, Gina. I was so happy to see Bama's numbers today when I logged in! :D But I know that you've been worried because he hasn't been feeling well - I hope your vet visit goes well today and that they are able to give you some answers. :bighug:

No asthma attacks yesterday or this am but her breathing rate is still a bit high so I'm keeping a close eye on her.

Do you think (for now) that I should stop carbing altogether early in the cycle (between +1 and the +2ish test)? I've continued doing it the last couple of days with the idea of keeping her in the high greens/low blues, specifically in the cycles that she can't earn a reduction. Does that make sense?

Yes it does. But with TR, even if they dip below the reduction point in the first 3-4 cycles we do not reduce since the depot is at play. There are exceptions, of course and ECID.

And yes, for now, it does not look like she needs the carbs. Of course, in a few cycles things might be different.

Ok, no early carbs tonight. :nailbiting: Thanks, Bhooma.

Callie just had a pretty scary incident of what looked to me to be some kind of seizure or feline hyperesthesia. She has had some skin rolling before (I noticed it specifically when we gave her insulin shots at the higher doses of Lantus) and she has severe allergies which i think can trigger it. Her allergies and asthma have been worse lately so something is definitely going on in her little body :(

I took a video and just sent it to the vet and am waiting to hear back.

Does anyone have any experience with the symptoms / treatment of hyperesthesia?

My civvie had an episode about 1 1/2 yrs ago. She was fiercely attacking her tail. Over grooming. I called vet made appt and they asked me if her skin was rolling. Something I have never seen before. The morning of her appt I saw the rolling skin. It is so creepy. I thought something was going to pop out (like Alien). PJ is high strung to begin with but this was not going away. Dr said it was hyperesthesia, he explained as something scared her and her brain was overthinking it and in overdrive. He said to give it another 2 weeks for her brain to stop thinking to much. If not then he would discuss treatment. Now at midnight she goes nuts. She jumps up on recliner and attacks the back of it. Digs at the cushion, does somersaults, tail whipping and ears flat, starts grooming her tail frantically. It lasts about 2 minutes and then she goes to sleep. She has her annual appt next week so will mention it. I try to get a video but I'm not fast enough.

Paula, thanks for responding. So sorry you are going through that with PJ. It is quite scary. Callie’s episode does sound similar - tail whipping, frantic grooming and scratching (mostly her back above her tail), wild eyes —and it lasted long enough for us to get pretty good video of it for her vet. At one point Callie’s hind legs were doing a twitching /seizing thing I’ve never seen before, which was what concerned me most.

I’m emailing back and forth with the vet so I still have more questions than answers but based on what he saw on the video, the vet thinks Callie is having clonic/ tonic seizures :( and he wants to start her on gabapentin. He said that the gab would help if it is hyperesthesia and/or seizures (it seems like the two can be related?) I’ll update more here when I know more.

Hope you get some answers and help for PJ at her appt next week.

A general note because I don’t think I have updated Callie’s SS from this afternoon yet: Callie’s BG immediately before this started was in the 90s so if it was seizures, they weren’t caused by a hypo incident.

Jessica, I am so sorry Callie is having all these issues at once. It gives new meaning to overwhelming! Thankfully for me I have no experience with any of them. Just wanted to stop by and send prayers you and your vet get her back to feeling well. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Elise. I really appreciate it. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I ended up mixing 1/2 teaspoon of HC into Callie's +1 LC snack because I was hoping to let Callie rest again with not a lot of testing tonight.

+4 (more than 2 hours posts HC) she's at 77. Not sure if that's flat/ high enough to feed an LC snack and stop testing for the night or if I should aim for one more test at +6/+7.
