Help!

First full day of Lantus and I'm still in the time I'm meant to be holding her dose at 1 unit as I'm doing SLGS and protocol is to hold 1 unit 2 x daily for 1 week.

She's tested at 4.1 AMPS.

But other advice on the low numbers sticky is don't dose below 150 and this is well below 150.

What to do?

Wow! That is an amazing reaction to Lantus. With SLGS, you do not shoot below 90.
Have you fed her already? Stall without feeding and test in 20 mins?

Congrats she has earned a reduction to 0.75U.

LOL, thanks. I did feed already because we free feed and she snacks on her pate overnight.

Won't shoot this morning, but will monitor in the day midmorning, lunch time and midday and shoot 0.75 tonight.

I'm happy with the number, but a bit freaked out as she hasn't been horribly high prior, but nowhere near as good as 74!

I would also recommend you try and get some testing in during the pm cycles as well. Even getting a before bed test in is good. If that test is lower than the preshot BG I would suggest setting the alarm and getting up later to check the BG has not dropped too much

It would be good to pick up food 2 hours before amps/pmps at first as if you don’t it’s food influenced. While trying to see how she does on lantus you really don’t want a food influenced test before shots.
